sitting at a breakfast of fresh fruit looking out over sparkling blue waters with coconut fronds waving in the light breeze it was hard to imagine anyone giving Coconut Grove a bad review.
breakfast need not be rushed it goes from 7.30 until midday.
The location is just outstanding - million dollar views completely unspoilt by development or noise despite the airport being about 200 yds away. Only gets 2/3 small planes a day.
We stayed in banana bure which is a great choice - closest to the beach with great views from the room & outside shower. Why would u ever shower inside with views like these.
Large comfortable bed & the ceiling fans keep you cool. Lots of CD's & books in the room & a mini fridge to keep the beers cold. Coconut Grove does not sell beer but are happy for you to purchase it locally & keep in fridge.
With a maximum of 8 guests - 3 bures & a guest room in main house ( would not be my choice ) Coconut Grove is an intimate location where guests naturally talk to each other over breakfast or dinner.
Ronna is lovely as are her staff & I suspect she employs more than she actually needs .All of the staff remember every guests name & always have big smiles .
Eating spots in Matei are quite limited but there are enough to provide variety & the food at Coconut Grove is superb. My Fijian style lobster was one of the best i have ever eaten & probably the cheapest at $24 including veggies & garlic bread.
Snorkelling is excellent although a long way out for the nervous. Ronna & the girls can organise snorkelling trips elsewhere & Garden Island resort was particularly good for that.
I just wished we could have stayed longer than 6 nights.
