Fiji wouldn't have been the same if not for Coconut Grove. It's not just the excellent food (exquisite dishes, both indian and fijian. And, as an italian, i must admit: good Ravioli), the magnificent location on the beach just meters away from the reef, the silence, the peacefulness, the coziness: it's the people that work there. The staff is always extremely kind and always makes the guests happy with their cheerfulness.
And Ronna, the owner, is an amazing host, full of energy, talking to everyone, treating them as guests in her own home, enabling the guests to meet one another. And is always full of the best advice on what to do in the Island.

Coconut Grove is a wonderful place to stay. There are only three bures and the property is right on the beach. This along with the extremely helpful and friendly staff makes you feel like you are being welcomed into a family.
The bure we stayed in was lovely with a view of the ocean and had an enormous private outdoor shower with hot and cold water. The thoughtful touches such as the free massage on arrival, fresh flowers and the staff cutting down a fresh cocunut drink from the palm as we lay on the beach made an already incredible experience into one of the best if not the best holidays we have ever had!
The restaurant looking out over the islands is very relaxing and the food is great. Very fresh and yummy. The fresh fruit smoothies are to die for. The tropical fruit breakfast, included in the price, is lovely as well.
You can loan one of the resort's kayaks and paddle out to the islands on the resort's doorstep for fantastic snorkeling. One of the staff members took me out for a spot of kayak fishing as well. I can not say enough about how the staff made the Taveuni experience wonderful as they suggested places we could go and things we could do, even escourting us on some of the trips as informal friendly guides. They arranged everything we wanted.
This place is one of the best kept secrets of Fiji so be sure to go and enjoy it!

What a lovely, peaceful, and beautiful property. We experienced the BEST food on the island of Taveuni on the restaurant deck of the Cocunut Grove Cafe with such an incredible view. The private cottage we stayed in was decorated with special care and comfort, and the luxurious outdoor shower with a view makes this a place that keeps your heart close to nature. Everywhere you look you are surrounded by the lush, exoctic feel of a tropical paradise. With 100's of islands in Fiji, I felt there was no place I needed to go. Felt completely taken care of by the hospitality of the staff and enjoyed the private romance offered by the private beach and cottages. I can't wait to go back and find my life relax again in tune with the earthly beat this paradise offers. Awesome snorkeling, kayaking, and beach and rainforest treking. Definitely a MUST do trip again.

We had two of the bures for our family for 8 days -- mom, dad, and 3 kids ranging from 12-18 years old. The staff at Coconut Grove could not have been nicer from the greeting song and flowers to the farewell song and quick trip to the airport.

Coconut Grove is conveniently located very close to the airport but don't let the proximity to the airport scare you away. We rarely if ever heard the planes come and go because of the wind in the palms and the waves lapping up on your semi-private beach.

The ocean in front of the Coconut Grove has some of the best off-the-beach snorkeling on the island and we enjoyed many hours just swimming and snorkeling over the reefs just offshore. The CG also has kayaks which are free to guests -- one of them had a leak and would slowly take on water though, so be sure your partner is the one who gets the one with the leak.

Manager and Owner, Ronna, is a constant presence at the hotel and is very knowlegeable about the island -- what services are available and how to access them -- this is a bigger deal than it may sound since in many ways the Taveuni tourist industry is primitive and not tourist friendly as you would find in Hawaii or other resort areas accustomed to dealing with tourists.

Ronna is also well connected with the Taveuni network of expats who live either full time or part time on the island. She is there to please and was very helpful to us in many ways, for example, shipping home a large kava bowl we had bought and planned on taking on the plane until we learned at the last minute we wouldn't be allowed to. We left it with her and she had one of her workers package it up for us, took it to the local post office (about a 25 minute drive) and shipped it.

Don't be put off if Ronna asks you to bring supplies from the States as many items are hard to find in Taveuni. Look at it as her way of taking you into the Fiji culture where everyone seems to be happy to help each other out in any way they can. Taking chocolate will endear you to the staff and to Ronna and is a definite ice breaker!

Since there are not a lot of choices for restaurants on Taveuni, it probably makes sense to go with the meal plan. You can spend more at other places in Taveuni and you may end up in a more luxurious resort but if you want to feel at home and still pampered, the CG is a good choice.
