“Charms of Egypt”

My family & I have just come back from a 2 week stay at Sol Y Mar Sharming Inn , It was our second time in Egypt - stayed at the Iberotel Grand Sharm which has shot up in price over the past year , so opted for this hotel.

I have to say after reading all the below reviews i was slighty worried about what to expect , but it was perfect - As soon as we arrived the reception staff were very helpful giving us a room by the pool ( added bonus , fantastic ) Sorting out the check in quickly.

It wasn't a common race to the sunbeds of a morning which you would find in a Spainish resort , the pool men sorted out beds for us each morning without a fuss, very pleasant & wanting a talk each morning was nice. The Antimation team were not a problem throughout our visit they just wanted you to get involved , & we really got on - although i did hear some people grumbling about the amount of times they were asked about joining 'Crazy darts or water volleyball '. The only downside to the pool side is the amount of salesmen around the pool - They generally don't take No for an answer so stay firm :)

Both pools were a good side & very clean , 2 Lovely bars outside , we spent a lot of time of a night in the fountain bar , it happened to be a lot calmer & cooler up there.

We had no complaints about the food - a good variety and themed everynight which is a great for an all inclusive , sometimes they can get repetitive . Other good options for food is the beach bar down at reef beach , 4 minute walk from the hotel & Hard rock cafe namma bay ( although you have to get there early ) .

We didn't do any excursions the first visit to sharm apart from a trial scuba dive , so the quad biking across the desert was a fantastic experience - although some may say slighty dangerous , you just need to take care of yourself & pay attention. Swimming with the dolphins as well , I think they charged around £ 75 each - but well worth it fantastic .

Overall the hotel in general lived up to the 4 star expectation , & we shall be returning to sharm again - I would recommend this hotel to people with families & young people .

“Value for money”

Two famillies of us stayed in this hotel last two weeks in July. The main point I can make is for what we paid we could not have had anywhere better. We requested bigger rooms when we got there and they gave us the 2 Royal suites for a small additional charge so we had ample space and 2 rooms in each apartment

It is not a 5 star or 4 star as we know but a good 3 star, the staff are all great and could not do enough. Yasseer in the bar and Hassan the cleaner were superb even before we tipped them.

The reception staff were always willing to help and always had a smile for you.

The food is adequate they try to cater for most nationalities and do a very good job.It can be a bit repetative after 2 weeks but so has every other all inclusive I have been to , the hotel is clean although some areas could do with a face lift but again you have to keep in mind what you are paying for.
All I can say is if you want the Ritz pay for it ,you will not get that quality here but you will get what you have paid for.

“Nice budget hotel for All inclusive”

Sol Y Mar Sharming Inn

3 of 5 stars

Nice hotel but definately not 4 star, the rooms are ok but ours was right opposite the restaurant (so no privacy here!!) the downside of the rooms there are no balconies unless you are above the restaurant. Be prepared to be up early to get a sunbed by the bottom pool, but if you do sleep in then you can usually get a good spec at the smaller pool at the top of the hill. Drinks need to be served in larger plastic glasses by the pool bar as one swig and it was gone!! The weather was fantastic as expected at this time of year. The food was basic, pasta, rice, beef etc usually the same every night but the waiters made up for this with service and charm! Naama bay has lovely restaurants however we did get hassled a little (especially for taxis on the way back) You can get a taxi from the hotel for about £8 return (and you don't pay til on the way back) otherwise you can book on the courtesy bus before 7pm (if you can get a space). Access is not very good for prams/wheelchairs at the hotel there are steps all over the place (although you can cut along the main floor it takes longer).

All in all you get what you pay for and this was worth the money for all inclusive for what we paid!

Our room was in poor decrative state the shower was poor and grout was black, The food was terrible we went out for food and we were all inclusive, The lobby entertainment was like a bad kareoke, The big swimming pool had loud music all day.
The towel boys have a scam going for the sun beds you pay the £ 2.00 they will sort you out 2 beds.

Mini bar money is collected every 2 days and they never have any change so get lots of tips.

all inclusive ends at midnight you have to pay.

Poor airconditioning in the lobby and you can smoke nearly anywhere in the hotel

disappointed with the accomodation

IT IS NOT A 4 STAR

“Much Enjoyed!”

Sol Y Mar Sharming Inn

August 2008

Was a bit scepical about going after reading very mixed reviews. We travelled with our 2 nine year old daughters. On first impressions we were impressed. Upon arrival, we received with a welcome drink and our cases were swiftly taken to our room. Our room had 2 double bedrooms, very nice villa type accommodation. Clean and bright and very good air conditioning. It was cleaned everyday and supplied with clean sheets and towels.

Pool facilities are great however, the only snag was that the larger pool did need some cleaning as it was rather cloudy. This did get put right in our first week.

Although the food is very "samey" it was well prepared and the waiters are exceptional (especially Reda!) Despite what you hear, you can have ice in your drinks (made with their mineral water) and eat their prepared salad. Most people who get ill in Egypt over indulge on sun and alcohol. We ate and drank everything. However, the first rule of thumb is do not clean your teeth using their tap water!

All staff and other residents are very friendly and we have made some very good friends. Your holiday is what you make it. Would we go back? Absolutely. The Egyptians are brilliant - so go enjoy yourselves like we did and use a very strong factor!
