Have to say enjoyed staying here. We have been to Sharm before, this time we went with our son and daughter in law. It was their honeymoon(yes strange going with them I know). Everyone was very helpful (thanks to Sayeed, Mohammed and Reda). We tipped the staff, because you have to remember as it was all inclusive you don't tip when you have dinner etc as you would if you ate out.
The rooms we had were great, very spacious and near the pool. The food was ok, plenty of choice, if not repetative at times.
Trips: We went to Cairo, went quad biking, bedioun night, sunset cruise and colour canyon. If you want any details contact me.
Overall really enjoyed the holiday. You have to remember that you are in Egypt and if you want to eat English food(some people were moaning that the chips weren't cooked properly and there was too much foreign food!) then go to Blackpool.

“Disapponited”

After reading the reviews on this hotel I was very worried about gonig.

Had a good holiday but would not come back to this hotel. The reception staff are not very helpful and would only change money when they felt like it.

The food was awful we all had the trots, stomach cramps and sickness all 16 of us. The chemist done well with us.

The bar staff was very rude, they would serve the men before the women and unless you were tipping them they made you feel as though you are putting them out, and theres no please or thank you and you never see them smile, the only one doing any work is ramando he is always happy and the only one doing any work.

The rooms were cleaned daily by hassan, but hes only after a tip,
the time we were leaving the room he knocked the door and asked for our cases we took our cases ouside the room and gave him £5 he left our cases there and never saw him again but his creations with the towels is lovely, its all about tips if you tip you will get a smile.

The entitaiment was the worst ive ever seen in a hotel what a shocker we felt like cutting the plug on the singer,I was going to bed early to get away from them.

Its not all inclusive is more like full board with local drinks included, you had to pay for the ice cream only between 3 and 5 you could get it free and that was only for the children not adults, and you could only have one if a child was with you.

On the second week we eat out every night which cost al lot but we had to.

Mr Huabley bubbley is lovely my kids loved him.

Would not go back to Egypt.

We just got back from sol y mar we was very disapointed the food was vile the restaurant had a funny smell when you walked in and the waiters were no help !

The bar staff didnt want to no unless you tipped them.

Their was no entertainment apart from half hour at 10 and you couldnt call that entertainment it was very poor.

The Hotel was clean overall are room cleaner was great very helpful (hassan)
The Recepionist staff didnt want to Know about any problems they are very arogant they wont even change money they sent us to the bank whilst they no its shut on friday and saturday we had no welcome drink.
Its not an all inclusive hotel you have to pay for ice cream cocktails theres no snack bar
I wouldt advise any 1 to go to this hotel.

I have just returned from this hotel, i visited for 2 weeks with my boyfriend. I was a little unsure of what to expect when i arrived at sol y mar because i had read a few bad reviews. However I found the hotel very good. The staff were lovely and the hotel was spotless. The sheisha tent is a must to visit. The hotel beach is also good for snorkling. There were a few little down sides, the food was not up to much although there are mcdonalds etc near by. The nightly entertainment was OK. Overall i thought the hotel was pretty good and would return back.

For what I paid for this hotel,I thought it was fine. The staff are friendly but slow!!! Over friendly when they are trying to sell you stuff, then cold shoulder if you dont want what they are selling. The food was "the run of the mill" for your typical AI.A lot of stomach problems going round. I was fine, its not the food, the staff eat there.I wasnt stupid enough to sit out in the sun all day and drink cold drinks.Big tip drink lukewarm drinks, boring I know but not as boring as being ill for a few days. And drink plenty, keep out of the sun for a couple of hours in the afternoon, for July it was extremly hot (40-45).Yes the pool area is busy and yes pay the pool boy £5.00 a week for a good spot with shade. The pool area is always kept clean and the pool is lovely and "warm" not cold at all.The entertainment is fair they do their best.watch out for waiters bring food/drink round on trays...it aint free!!!Our room was a fair size but upgraded to have 2 rooms as we travelled with a 13 yr old.Only cost £7 extra a night and the two rooms were massive, well worth it.Cleaners came in everyday to remake beds and tidy bathroom.ours made figures out of towels. On our second week the hotel was fully booked, but didnt feel it.The games room has 2 pool tables which are free !!! A table football and table tennis. There is also 2 PC with internet access at a charge £5.00 for an hour I think. The on sight shop is okay but if you take a walk out of the hotel, turn left, top of road turn left again there is a few shops, also a excursions shop, which the hotel use and charge you extra for it!!!I would recommend the Tiran island trip, last all day and is very relaxing. You stop 3 times for snorkelling which you can hire for £2.00 snorkle £5.00 for life jacket which I would recommend for kids as they can just float and see all the fish,There are loads!!The "beach" is private but not at the hotel,it is a 10 min bus drive away.It is a man made beach and not sandcastle material. You cannot paddle as it is a reef with a jetty,so you jump in and thats it,you dont touch the bottom.Snorkel is advised as fish are close to reef.We bought a "decent" set for our lad for £12.00,and a life jacket for £48.00 which we were told was a very good price. We got these in Naama Bay.A free bus to Naama Bay is available from the hotel. It runs in the evening and you need to book your seat.It is worth a visit just for the experience.Annoying hassling egyptians. In Naama Bay you have lots of fast food outlets which the "fat" family seemed to notice on the way in.Hard rock cafe is a must, only if for a drink its loud. When walking round and you are approached just a firm "no" and put your hand up usually works. And the same for the beeping taxis.Taxis are very cheap and scary.I still couldnt work out which was the overtaking lane. They like to take english money so you neednt worry about exchanging enough and there are plenty of ATM's about as well. There is also a public beach just down from the hotel.Get a voucher at reception a pound each to get in. Its okay, there is snorkels for hire and cheap food and drinks.be carefull of the ice lollies, one bite and they just melt.Tipping is a big thing. For the wages they are on (about £40.00 a month!!). We tipped our waiter and cleaners at the end of the 2 weeks.£5.00 each. When "booking" taxis trips etc, they are on egyption time - late!! Dont expect a cool evening the tempreture never seems to drop. Overall it was a good relaxing holiday. No good for beach lovers or kids who love the "seaside".The hotel had mixed nationalities, mainly british.I would come back again but at a cooler time.Oh you have to watch the piano man in the evening. He is great, doesnt play the organ just pretends, spends most of his time checking his watch or his phone, singing a mixture of english and traditional songs-badly. Its just funny.
