“Hilton Fayrouz - mmmmm???!!!”

Despite sitting at No1 in the TripAdvisor listings for Hotels in Sharm El Sheikh if you are used to staying in 4 or 5 star hotels then you will be dissapointed with this hotel. Interestingly this hotel does not appear to be featured in the main UK brochures.

We did our research using TripAdvisor and based on what we read we chose the Hilton Fayrouz and booked direct with the hotel. The information flow to and from the hotel via e-mail was very good.

We flew from Gatwick to Sharm and were met at the airport by a hotel driver and taken directly to the hotel. Check in was very quick and efficient and we were shown to our room.

The reviews on TripAdvisor did say that the rooms were 'dated' however that was the least of our problems. Our room was dirty and unhygenic - blood stains on the curtains, mould and dirt on all of the floor rugs and a dirty bath - totally unacceptable!!

I phoned the hotel reception to complain (twice) before they sent someone out to clean the room. The following morning we were given the choice of moving rooms or viewing our existing room after it had been cleaned. The alternative room was no better however our existing room had benefited from new curtains, new rugs and an extensive clean so we opted to stay where we were.

The hotel grounds are very nice and looked after extremely well. The hotel staff are extremely friendly and eager to please. The guys in the restaurant were absolutely fantastic as was the beach attendant who ensured that we had everything that we needed. On a cultural note, everytime we went to reception we were greated politely by the reception staff. I say we, in reality my wife was completely ignored and not addressed - probably cultural but offensive none the less.

The Spa facilities at the fitness centre are comparable in price to UK and not really upto UK standards. The Spa Rep who canvasses you each day on the beach is very annoying. The Beauty Salon is a separate building from the Spa and offers manicures and pedicures (£20) etc. The buiding is not very clean or hygenic and I would suggest getting your beauty treatment done in the UK.

The hotel's location is excellent and enjoys the best beach front location in Na'am Bay. The beach is great, plenty of space and ample sun loungers and has direct access to the water. The hotel is located a short walk away from the centre of Na'am Bay and all the attractions that it offers.

We went B+B for the first week and enjoyed eating out at numerous restaurants along the Prom. Second week we upgraded to HB and ate mostly in the main hotel restaurant. All the food we ate was to a high standard and good value for money.

We didn't go on any trips as we just wanted to relax on the beach and enjoy the sun, if you do decide to venture out I would advise booking locally and not through a tour rep.

We met a few English people who had booked the same way that we did and they said they were as disappointed as we were. The hotel guests are mainly Italian and Russian with a few Brits. We didn't experience any problems with the Russians however the Italians are very vocal is all I will say!!

It is advisable to change your money in Sharm as the exchange rates are better. UK pounds, US Dollars or Euros can be exchanged without problems.

If you take into account the staff, grounds and location then this hotel will suit most but I just can't agree that it does enough to justify it's current No1 position.

“Customer Service Second To None”

Hilton Sharm El Sheikh Fayrouz Resort

My wife and I stayed at the Fayrouz at the beginning of June. The occasion was to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary, and we couldn't have chosen a better destination. They don't do clouds in Sharm-el Sheikh - it's wall to wall sunshine all day- and HOT !! The staff are first class, and seem to be dedicated to spoiling you. Hefny and Ehab (we love ya!) - the best blokes you could ever wish to meet. Cleaners, Room Service, Security, Gardeners, Reception, Bar and Restaurant Staff, everyone is so friendly and caring. Nothing is a bother to them, and, unlike some holiday destinations, they don't seem to enforce rules for the sake of it - basically, if they can please you, they will! We even returned from the beach one day to find they had baked us a wedding anniversary cake (see pic). And, the whole place is impeccably clean.
The snorkelling mainly attracted us to this resort, and we weren't disappointed - a couple of metres into the water, and you're in "Finding Nemo" mode! Absolutely fantastic. Naama Bay itself is very cosmopolitan and there was an easy relaxed air about the place, totally non-threatening, no yobs. In fact, we didn't hear a swear word the whole time we were there (apart from when I stood on the hot sand for too long). We were fortunate to stay during the Euro 2008 matches and this added to the pleasure, with everyone from all nationalities being so friendly and respectful. Planning our return, already. “Nice Hotel - for families not couples!”

Hilton Sharm El Sheikh Fayrouz Resort

London, UK

We stayed at the Hilton during the Easter Period. It was a bit of a disastrous stay, and probably are not in a hurry to return to Sharm El Sheik or the Hilton. I have to say in the Hotel staff themselves were amazing, very attentive, helpful and friendly. And the issue we had was not with the hotel itself, but more with the influx of families at the resort - I guess you expect that at Easter time.

My husband and I were looking for a bit of sun as the UK is quite dull and miserable during that time of year, and escaped to Sharm El Sheik for a relaxing break. The break had plenty of sunshine - just not relaxing!!

If you have children, then I would highly recommend the hotel. Its in a great location and has all the amenities. As couples, even with an adults area, you will still find kids everywhere and its often hard to relax and read a book, without screaming or splashing everywhere - even in the "allocated adults area".

Unless you are after sunshine and a diver, I can't see the island offering much else. Prices are incredibly expensive for Egypt - very comparable to London prices. You do have to becareful where you eat, so we found eating at the hotel was the safest bet. The staff make the hotel, its a shame for the rest.

Rooms itself were okay, nothing special, more of a 4 star experience, but nothing to complain about.

So all and all, I would recommend the hotel to families rather than couples/singles.

“loved sharm!”

Hilton Sharm El Sheikh Fayrouz Resort

A great resort! I highly recommend it for all! Groups, families, couples etc!

Location is fantastic, just a walk away from the night life, has a fantastic beach, close to water park (which is included for hilton guests). Has its own pools which are great. a bit small but beach makes up for it.

The gym facilities are very very poor. Was disappointed as it only opened at 10 and was a small poorly ventilated room smaller then my sitting room! Went for massage which was nice, but over priced especially considering the rooms they do them in are awful! Small rooms that remind me of my school with bright lights...no candles, dimmed lighting or atmosphere at all! And they charge £40.00 for a very mediocre 1 hr massage.

Rooms were lovely, spacious and more like small villas.

Did a few excusions, quad biking in the deserts a definate must do!!

Hotel food was nice. Italian restaurant was nicer then the main one. Orange juice and salad in the buffet and breakfast didn't agree with me!!!All else was good. Drinks are expensive but hey, its a Hilton! Bottle of water costs £1.50 as does a can of coke. Had a hilton club card so got a free water a day.

Overall had a good stay and would definately go back! :)

“I can see why it's #1”

Hilton Sharm El Sheikh Fayrouz Resort

5 of 5 stars
Hurghada, Egypt

I was staying in the hotel on business and so didn't get much chance to take advantage of the facilities, but what I did see I was very impressed with.

As is quite usual in Egypt, the staff were very friendly. However, what is quite unusual for Egypt is that they also seemed very competent.

The room was very nice - looked as if it has been refurbished a year or two ago. A few knocks here and there, but I thought that it was very good value for money.

Living in Hurghada, I know that Hilton license their brand to some very poor hotels, but this one is definitely up to Hilton standards.

The location was excellent - within easy walking distance of all of the attractions of Naama Bay.

In short, I can recommend it to anyone looking for a great hotel in a great location at an affordable price.
