Harbour Ville Hotel

Me and my wife have just stayed in this hotel for 3 days on my way back to the Netherlands from Bali. All I can say, it is definitely a big disappointment. During my contact with the hotel before our stays, it's always been a helpful and smooth communication though only through email, but during the stays the communication especially with the front desk receptionists had been a struggle.

We find the front desk receptionist rude, this is coming from my wife who had lived almost 8 years in Singapore, so it is not merely a culture gap. Furthermore, some facilities that are supposedly available in the room have to be asked before you can get it, e.g. hair dryer and blanket.

After closely looked at the available room, we find that we are given the wrong room type. We complained this, but there's nothing we can do, we planned not to stay long at the room anyways. The room is so small. It is so crammed, you cannot put your luggage anywhere but to put in front of the closet, which makes you unable to open it.

In our room, the air conditioner initially is unable to be controlled by the remote. After we complained about it a nice man fix it and set the AC to be controllable. Unfortunately, three big leaks near the wall coming from the AC are not fixed until we checked out, even though we already complained this since the day we arrived.

Next is the location, there is only two buses that go to the Orchard road, it is also only every 15 - 20 minutes. The nearest MRT station is around 15 - 20 minutes of walk. It is also the case with the nearest shopping center and departure place to Sentosa Island.

One plus side is the breakfast. The self-service breakfast was very nice. Having breakfast in patio, although during our stays, it rained once but there's a canopy to protect us. The guy serving the food was very nice and very helpful.

All in all, if you have other options besides this, please do stay at other hotels.

“not professional”

Harbour Ville Hotel

First, did not remember our reservation.

Front desk rude. Placed us in a smoking room when we asked for non smoking room. Even non smoking room was smokey. The room is small, but then that's ok right because it's just a place to sleep. But the smoke smell, can't can't can't i repeat, can't breath.

shower was good, toilet was bad, had to change roomS. Loud if facing the street side. Internet good. Gym was ok. Breakfast is ok, since it's only ONE older guy cooking for everyone.

LOCATION not good, not close to anything. seriously, tho we did use bus. but cost accumulate fast that way. ate meals in chinatown

i wouldn't complain about this kind of hotel except that they asked us to pay for a budget hotel as if it's an average cost hotel.

“" Passage to Singapore " from The Natprachas - THAILAND”

Harbour Ville Hotel

Start your passage from Changi Airport. You can reach this Hotel by Taxi, Limousine, Paid Travel Agent arrangement and MRT. Airport Shuttle can not send you there because they claimed that it is out of bound, they are only take you to City Centre's Hotel. (Eventhough they advertised that they send you anywhere except Sentosa area and Changi Villages ). If you use MRT, take the HarbourFront Line, then, take 143 Bus to the Hotel (Bus stop is nearby the Hotel). The Hotel itself situated between St. Theresa Church & Canadian International School. Meaning, this hotel is in the Residential Area rather than Tourist Disctrict or Business environment ( do not expect to find anything around the Hotel that money can buy-Food ,Drink, Souvenir, etc ) Those who expect some action, light & sound, please do not bother to stay here (but I like) Considering the price you have paid for, this Hotel is good enough (for Singapore Standard and not Thailand-For this price in Thailand, you can easily get a 4 star Hotel) I can say this Hotel is 2+ star but the place is clean, area is safe, staff & Management were friendly, helpful...Room (superior) was not big but enough to move about., Bathroom is surely very small with only shower and no bathtub ( I do not mind ), limitted amenities provided, small towel (not so white colour anymore but fresh & clean) Other was OK EXCEPT : pillows are like a Flat-tire, I had to fold to sleep on it, REfrigerator seem like noone ever touch it for 200 years ( forget about a nice cool drink with ice cube - but they provides Free are; Coffee /Tea Sachets with Kettle and two bottles of Drinking Water) ,NO BLANKET provided and outdated TV reception with mostly local programme, no Radio........ Breakfast included in the room price. For us Asian, its OK, delicious, they have Omelette, Sausages(local), Fried Noodle ( it surely only fried noodle with soy Sauce and no Veggi or meats at all ) and Baked Bean with Bread, butter, Jam, Coffee(local), Tea ( Lipton ), Milk(smell strange) and ice cold drinking water, all are Buffet Style ( I saw a couple of Westerner turn down the breakfast, just had Coffee & left ). for sight-seeing trip, this hotel, for us, is very convenient. We took bus 143 to VivoCity for Monorail to Sentasa ( only less than 10 minutes ) and went by the same bus number 143 to China Town & Newton/Orchard. If you prefer MRT, the nearest one are HarbourFront MRT and Outtram MRT. In general I can rate this as a 4**, Value for Money, Safe & Clean, Friendly and Convenient..All these were good enough for us to decide to stay here when we plan to go to Singapore again next time

“O.K. for a short stay”

Harbour Ville Hotel

May 25, 2008

I stayed here for 2 nights in May. The hotel itself is easy enough to get to. Get the MRT to Harbour Front Station and get a cab to the hotel. The room on first inspection appeared to be clean, the bathroom was ok and the normal toiletries are provided. I arrived on a Saturday and I was well informed that breakfast is only offered Mon to Sat.

I actually misplaced my passport (somehow) so i had to search for it, During my extensive searchthat lasted for about half an hour, I was greeted by filth under the bed, in corners and under the table. Admittedly it was it has accumulated over a period of time, but for a hotel you would expect it not to be there. Another thing the sheets were old and the remote for the TV didnt work.

Anyway, getting to town is easy enough, walk to the front of the hotel and a taxi will eventually come along and pick you up if you so wish or you can take a bus to Chinatown or to Harbourfront, or just take an extended stroll to Harbour Front.

Overall, a reasonable priced hotel for Singapore but I doubt I could recommend it to anybody or stay there again

“it was ok, but very small and not real convenient”

Harbour Ville Hotel

3 of 5 stars

We stayed at the Harbour Ville for a total of 5 nights. We stayed the 1st night in a Superior room and then left 2 large luggage bags with the hotel and traveled to Thailand for 4 days. When we returned, we stayed another 4 nights in a regular room.
The first night was fine, even though the room was small & crowded, it was clean and at the back of the hotel. The breakfast on the patio was very good and filling. When we returned, our luggage was sitting in the lobby, and had been for the whole 4 days. We were then assigned a regular room on the front of the hotel. It was the tinest room and alot of street noise. The bath wasn't as clean & the A/C leaked all down the wall, causing a puddle in the floor. We were only in the room in the evenings to sleep, thank goodness. I am a light sleeper and had to wear ear plugs because of the traffic noise. These 4 nights were paid for with frequent flyer miles, so I don't know if this was the reason we were given the room we had or what.
The staff were exceptionally friendly & helpful though. Another T.A. reader had said there was a 7-11 behind the hotel. We asked directions and found it up behind the bus stop in the middle of some apartments. We also found a bakery that was very good, right across from the 7-11.
I had some problems with the internet, but the front desk was always helpful to try and fix it.
You have to walk a little ways down the street to a bus stop to catch a bus to get to the MRT station. We bought an E-Z link card, which was good for the MRT & bus. We rode the bus to the Harbour Front MRT Station and then we could take the MRT to where ever we needed to go. When we would come back in the evening, if we wanted to stop and have a quick, cheap meal, we would go to Vivo City Mall and eat in the food court and then catch the bus back to the hotel. You can catch the Harbour Front MRT from the basement of Vivo City Mall.
If you plan to stay here, pay a little extra & get the superior room. Both room had the tea kettle and fixings and a small fridge.
