This is without doubt in my mind the best B&B in Belize City (and I have tried others). Francoise, the owner, offers a great welcome and makes you feel at home. The rooms are all nicely done and the breakfast is excellent. The garden is very well looked after. A plus is the ability to use the kitchen out of breakfast hours. A great plus is the free wi-fi. If Francoise was to raise the prices a bit, especially in the peak season, she could then maybe fund the improvements it would be nice to see – new air conditioning units (old ones are somewhat noisy) and improved plumbing. My room never had hot water in the basin, only in the shower. The Villa is in a pleasant suburban area, one block back from the sea (and there is no real point in being downtown – this is a nicer area). The seafront road is excellent for an early morning jog, which takes you past the Prime Minister’s official Belize City residence (his main place is in the capital, Belmopan). There is a seashore restaurant offering simple Belizean dishes within a couple of minutes walk, plus a few Chinese ones within easy reach, but it is idle to pretend that there is much in the way of good food to be found in Belize City – the Harbour View restaurant and Old Belize (way out of town) are the only two that merit mention, and both are a fair distance from the Villa. The best store in town, Brodies hypermarket, is 5 minutes walk, with a take away food bar. Access to the Villa is best done by taxi or rental car, though bus service is also possible.
