We stayed in this hotel in January 2006 and our experience was quite pleasant. Seeing that I am a Belizean I thought it would be better as we heard that it had been renovated and updated.
Wrong, We stayed again dec 06 to Jan 07and our room was cleaned around 2 to 4pm and two days it was not cleaned at all. Room sevice cutlery stayed outside doors for two days. The water was about a trickle and sometimes no hot water. the foodwas just awful with no labels saying what was waht. We stayed for 12 days and onthe the Belizean Buffet in my opinion was of any good. The buffet waitresses were kind an polite and gave good service.
The place needs a new chef and some serious thought. Our room was satisfactory. It is also good as there is a cinema and also a disco and a bowling alley for entertainment and not far from town centre.
Can't say that I will be staying there again.

We stayed there in early November with 19 other people. The place had NO hot water; one day the valve was coming from Mexico and two days later from Miami. We were concerned with the cleanliness of the dishes, glasses, etc from the restaurants.

The pool was unkempt...dog doo, papers, shoddy furniture. Many rooms were being remodeled without windows; which allowed insects to get into the hallways. Garbage was scattered around the grounds. Paint was peeling in the bar and lobby.

One person cancelled at the two weeks before arrival and the Princess has not refunded the money. The travel agent called and emailed numerous times to no avail.

Just forget staying here.

Physically this hotel has potential, but it currently suffers from too many problems. When our group arrived for a meeting that had been booked at the hotel for about a year, they weren't ready for us and did not have enough rooms. Check-in was painfully slow and tedious. At check-in the hotel had NO water and didn't restore water for about 8 hours. One of my colleagues went to his room to find water all over the floor and the a/c unit pulled out of the wall and sitting on the bed. In my room, the a/c worked well but the shower was missing its on/off handle. I had to use my Leatherman tool to turn on the shower, but the showerhead was so shot that I removed it and used my thumb to spread out what little water came through the pipe. Despite my request these problems weren't fixed during my four-day stay. Neither did we ever have hot water - nothing but cold water the entire four days. The view behind the hotel is nice, but there was a strong sewer smell back there on the walk to the restaurant. Read enough? The hotel lobby and bar area are actually quite pleasant and conducive to socializing, and the meeting rooms were very good. But there were just too many fundamental problems to ever consider staying there again. Belize City itself was very disappointing with zero charm. If I ever go to Belize again it will be for a totally different part of the country.

Stayed there only because of group discount for Peace Corps Reunion. Arrived at 6pm but our room was not ready. Weren't told at registration about no hot water. Manager (a Columbian & new there) lied to us claiming the boiler part was coming in 3-5 hours on plane from Miami...three days later it was coming from Mexico... friends still had no hot water at least 2 days more.

AC in room & mini fridge barely cooled. TV/clothes wardrobe was falling apart. Tub & sink drained verrry slowly. Only 3 hangers. At check-out we demanded some reduction; they gave us free dinners at their Calypso restaurant ($35-40 value). On the plus side, linens & towels were nearly new and excellent.
