“Not Horrible, but not Great”

I had my wedding in at this Hotel in September of 2007. I had about 60 guests travelling from the U.S. and they all stayed here. The hotel itself is ok, the amenities are basic, although there is a nightclub in the hotel, as well as a casino and bowling alley, which my entire crew took advantage of. One of my guests had a hole in his hotel room wall and when it started raining, water came into the room, but they did switch him to another room about three hours later. Overall the staff was pretty inflexibile, whenever we asked them to do something within reason, they're response was "I don't think we can do that? For instance room service is supposed to be 24 hour service, but I called to order food at 2am and was told the restaurant was closed because the cook was on a break.

The location was pretty decent and the one thing I did like is that the hotel is designed so that all off the guest rooms have an ocean view room. Also the food at the restaurant at the back of the hotel had some great seafood. Decent hotel, but they have ways to go in staff training and service.

My husband and i stayed at the princess hotel in june 2008, my god this place was horrible, it had the rats huge ones and large as cats, we didn't even eat their food after we saw this from fear of contracting some deadly disease that rats carry, we complained to the front desk, they did nothing but had us standing around like dummies with out and explanation. we asked to speak to a manager, this grizly looking guy came to us he was rude, and ill-mannered better yet he was the GM Mr. Nejip. he told us he couldn't do anything about the rats and rats are all over the world. We were shocked at his response.

Our ac air-conditioned didn't work, the room smelt of mold, there ws no hot water for a day and a half, the room service is slow and sloppy, we ordered sodas and it took 45 minutes to come to our room, front desk staff are all dumb, the lobby area smelt like a sewer or garbage dump.

How can the Governement of Belize, the Department of Healthn or any responsibel authorities allow such place to be opened to the public, to tourist that wouls certainly pass along their hideous expeiences to others all over the globe.

Think about it children goes to this place, have you ever thought it could be your child as a Belizean.

I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND EVEN MY WORST ENEMIES TO STAY AT THE PRINCESS HOTEL. TOURIST, TRAVELLERS, PLEASE DON'T STAY AT THE PRINCESS HOTEL YOU WILL BE SORRY, YOUR MONEY WILL BE WASTED.

I HOPE SOMEONE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PLACE.
JM.

“Run down, sad place”

I booked this trip through a last minute Travelocity deal, the price was right and now I see why. The Princess Hotel was not a three or four star place is was barely pushing two. The service was just okay, the rooms were worn out and haven't been updated in years. The location is in Belize City, if at all possible stay out of Belize City it is a decaying, crumbling, and sketchy place.

Do not waste your time or money at this hotel.

“Good basic, yet well equipped hotel”

Princess Hotel & Casino

The Princess Hotel and Casino is not as bad as many of the reviews on this website, and for the price we were happy enough.

The views of the sea are great. The hotel is well equipped with restaurants, a bar, gym, and swimming pool. It also has the casino and even a cinema!

The rooms are basic but nice, the bathrooms were surprisingly nice (I think they have recently added some new fittings). Breakfast is good. The service from all the staff we met was excellent.

There was a Power Cut from 9:30am - 11:30am the one morning, which also meant there was no water during this time. This wasn't very well handled, and is why I gave the hotel 3 and not 4. If this was a chain hotel, the manager would have written a quick letter apologizing and perhaps offering a complementary drink and posted it under the doors ... instead there was no reaction as if this is normal.

The location is slightly on it's own, although it's only a 10-15 minute walk to downtown (which is probably not an area you would want to stay) or a similar time to the tourist village where the Radisson is located (which is deserted on a Wednesday when there are no Cruise ships or hell on earth when there are). It's very close to the municipal airstrip which was handy for us as we flew from there to San Pedro (we only paid $23 each for the flight, yet the boat was almost as much at $20).

“Very Dangerous”

Princess Hotel & Casino

We never felt safe, you need guards to leave the property in the evening! Smoke in the loby just takes your breath away! Most of the staff not helpfull.Every thing is extra, the first water bottle is free after that you have to buy! You can not drink the water! Very expensive, you don't mind paying if your getting your bucks worth! This is a place I would stay away from and do not take kids! The bowling alley ,movie attracks all the very lowest of the low to hang around! The guards in the casino make you feel like there is going to be a gun battle at any time! You can sense that your an intrusion and just a buck! We feel fleaced by them and the taxi drivers that over take you at the hotel door! We were told a price of 25.00 american money to go to Old Belize and when we got there he told us he made a mistake and tried to charge us 50.00 When we refused he told us about an American toursit that they never found his body from the hotel. In all fairness the food for breakfast was good! This is a terrible distination and if you have to stay for a night its not bad. There are no Russian dancers, and not a tour desk to be had! They did try ot direct us to most expensive directions. We payed a lot for this vacation and most disapointed in the hotel and the saftey of the area! I am an average traveler and this was my biggest disapointment yet! Belize City is not a good destination,go to the outer islands right off the bat!
