“Loved It!”

Hyatt Place Windward Parkway

Atlanta

My hubby and I enjoyed the Hyatt at Windward Parkway. The rooms are fabulous...the employees were great...the service, cleanliness, style were all great! I loved it, and will go back again - Just to get away..it's a home away from home & in comparison to other hotels where you pay 150+ a night, this is where you need to be! I'd recommend it to anyone -you get your money for your buck!

“Great Hotel Right off GA400”

I spent a week here in August on business. I couldn't have asked for a better stay or a better hotel.

Rates were decent, but my company picked that up, so I can't really complain or rave about the rates. Room was clean and well appointed. Nice, big LCD flat panel TV in the room. Small kitchette area with counter top, sink and min-fridge. The main lobby had another kitchen area with dishes to use for take out food. Free wireless internet. Polite and courteous staff. I would highly recommend a stay here!

“Lovely Rooms...Some Staff - NOT SO NICE”

Hyatt Place Windward Parkway

4 of 5 stars
Long Island, New York
Jul 10, 2007

Our flight out of NY was delayed, so I called ahead of time to let them know that we would be arriving very late...they said that it would not be a problem...upon arriving at 3:30AM the woman at the front desk was in the middle of her night audit. she said it wouldn't be a problem and took my credit card information and gave us our room keys. Since we booked through travelocity.com, I was told that everything was paid but if there are any additional charges such as food or movies they would be charged to the credit card provided. The room was CLEAN.CLEAN.CLEAN!!!! However, our sink never drained, so it constantly had water in the sink. The toilet had problems flushing and would get backed up. We were with a group of people and some others also had problems with their toilets not functioning properly. Then comes the day to check out. We find a bill slipped under our door, saying that we need to pay for another night. I was booked for three nights, we stayed for three nights...whats the problem? As soon as I find out, I go downstairs to get the problem resolved. Turns out, since we showed up during night audit, we turned up as a no-show. After dealing with a girl at the front desk, basically telling us we never had the reservation. I showed her all my printouts from travelocity and she told me that, that does her no good. I refused to talk to her anymore. She was extremely rude and was absolutely no help. Bottom Line...everything got worked out. I am a big fan of Hyatt Hotels and would definitely stay here again if need be. For the price and the cleanliness you can't beat it.

“OK, but not great”

Hyatt Place Windward Parkway

Jun 9, 2007

I booked the room for a Friday night on the Hyatt website at $58. I have stayed at the Hyatt Place near the airport twice before so I knew what I was getting for the price. I needed a room in the Windward Park area and figured it was worth the $58.

There is a large plasma TV, but that one item doesn't redeem the place in my opinion.

Check-in was a bit odd. I started toward the kiosk because I did not see anyone at check-out, even though I had less than positive experiences using the kiosk the last time I stayed at a Hyatt Place property. A clerk appeared soon after I touched the touch screen receiving no response from it. She said, "It doesn't work--I can help you here." I gave her my credit card, Platinum Passport card, and the photo ID she requested. There was a television playing nearby and while she was typing I stepped toward it. to better see the news broadcast. A woman who appeared to be a cleaning woman came up to me and asked me if she could help me. I told her I was checking in and she said that I looked lost. I told her I was not. I was just steps away from the desk and there were no other guests in the area. She stayed by my side there and walked beside me back to the desk and remained there,

The clerk gave me my key and then a lengthy explanation of when breakfast was to be served the next day and said there were limited items for sale and continental choices would be free. She told me the apples and the newspaper on the counter were free but the other items cost money. I had the feeling some guests had not understood that and she appeared a bit worried as though she thought I might try to grab something and run. She walked me to the elevator and punched the button for me--and the other woman walked as far as the wall dividing the check-in desk and the elevators.

The room was on the fifth floor and it looked just like other Hyatt Place rooms I have stayed in. Like my first visit there was a folder in the room but when opened there was nothing in it. It would be nice of them to at least list the items available for purchase in the food area in the lobby and maybe give the hours for the breakfast and the pool--there is nothing in the room that alerts you to any of the features of the hotel--just an empty folder with the Hyatt logo on front of it. That logo is on the bright green ice bucket in the cubby under the TV and on the soap dish.

You get the idea that more attention was given to the design than to the comfort of the guests.

There is no microwave in the room, but there is a refrigerator and a very small sink.

The wireless internet was a nice thing. I think it is a bit ironic that in a place I can reserve for $58/nt. the internet is free, but in their Grand Hyatt at Buckhead just a short distance away the rooms on the weekend are a good deal when they are three times this amount and they charge a daily fee for internet access.

I agree wih the previous reviewer who said the room is not functional. I had take-out with me and planned to sit down and watch television. In order to do that I turned a metal trash can upside down and made it into a table to hold my drink. The ottoman has a soft top that would not support my drink though I was able to put my plate on it.

The TV is big, but it only had a few channels. When you press menu and then star you see a list of the channels, but only about half of them actually had a signal. There are no premium channels but they have pay per view movies.

There are three drawers in the sink bureau and the tiny closet is adjacent to the sink. The toilet and bathtub/shower combo are in a separate room.

The bed was comfortable, but the AC unit is one of those metal things beneath the window by the bed and it was extremely noisy, running for a short while with one loud whir then changing pitch and running awhile, then a loud knock and quiet for awhile only to start up again. It pretty much ensured that I had very little sleep. It was in the 90s and I could not cut the AC off--it was a miserable night.

There are no trays downstairs so if you want to carry breakfast upstairs you must get creative. I asked about this at check-in and the girl told me that guests ask for trays all the time and that it is okay to take food upstairs but they don't have trays to do so. The next morning I took a plastic bag with me downstairs and used it to hold yogurt and cereal and fruit (I put the fruit in a coffee cup).

This place certainly looks better than the typical motel of this type--it is sort of the same way that Target has more attention to "style" than Wal-Mart or K-Mart, and yet they are all still budget places. This place looks nice but it feels cheap.

The Hyatt brand is one that over time I have come to think of as a symbol of quality, and in my opinion Hyatt place does not live up to the Hyatt name. They have Hawthorn Suites as part of their chain and I think they goofed when they used the Hyatt name for this hotel. People who may not know their Hyatt properties may end up with a less than positive image if they first learn about Hyatt through Hyatt Place.

Even if this place has another $58 deal I doubt I will stay here again. This is my third stay and likely my less at a Hyatt Place.

“New, Exciting, but not very Functional”

Hyatt Place Windward Parkway

Apr 18, 2007

I was staying in town for 6 days, 3 of them on the weekend. This hotel has high weekly rates, but weekend rates are a steal. The hotel is very convenient right off GA 400 exit 11, behind Cabernet restaurant. The lobby is very art deco, and they have electronic check-in / check-out machines. The staff is VERY friendly and courteous. They offer snacks and beverages in the lobby, and the continental breakfast is right next to it. They also can make special dishes during breakfast if you wish to pay. The breakfast was simple but delicious, especially the fresh fruit.
The rooms were very clean, and every room has a 42" Plasma television which can face either the living space or the bed area. The bed is very comfortable, the bath area is fancy, with modern sinks and faucets. The shower area is somewhat dated but very functional with a decent showerhead. The room had a desk, wet bar with fridge, couch (pull out sofa bed), and a rolling ottoman. Overall, the room is very nice.
My only complaint is that the room is not very functional, in that there is little space for clothes (they have little cubbies under the plasma and 3 tiny drawers by the sink), no coffee table to enjoy food / beverages except for the rolling thing. They need to replace that rolling thing with a solid table, and figure out how to add some storage space. My wife and young son were with me, and it was just not enough space, not very functional. For a couple, this might be the ideal place, but not very good for young children.
