“Lovely Hotel”

Fairmont Turnberry Isle Resort & Club

My wife and I spent almost 3 weeks at this hotel and enjoyed every minute. The hotel is lovely and the staff are very helpful and polite. It was so good, that it was difficult to leave the hotel to go exploring. My wife managed this quite well by developing tours of the Aventura shopping mall. This is very close to the hotel and they run a free shuttle bus

We stayed in a deluxe room overlooking the resort. The room was spacious and well presented.

There are two pools. The original pool is certainly for the older folk with no kids. It is usually quiet and there are plently of loungers, a bar and the option for food to the poolside. There is also a livelier pool complex which has cabanas (at a charge) plus water slides for the young - and not so young. There is also a grill there so you can spend the entire day there quite easily.

Restaurants are great. The Bourbon Steak House is very good and the steaks have to be seen and eaten to be believed. Breakfast buffet in the Cassata Grill is excellent and there are a variety of items available that will suit all ages.

As with all smart hotels in Miami, there is a charge for valet parking (currently $30 per day). That being said, the service is very good with a phone ahead facility that ensures your wheels are there as you depart the building.

I would recommend this hotel for all ages.

I just got back to The Turnberry Isle. I will say that it's a 5 Star Hotel and one of the nicest I have stayed at. I am a travel agent and have an opportunity to travel quite often and very economical. I personally wouldn't be writing this review if I didn't get a good deal because I could have never afforded to stay there.... with that being said....

I have never stayed at a Fairmont and was very impressed. It was more relaxed than a Ritz Carlton, but the service was just as nice. The valet was very expensive ($30.00) but I knew that before going to the hotel. The Resort Fee is $12.00 per person. the bellman brought our bags to the room and when I tried tipping him, he said it's part of the Resort Fee. An employee would come to the room each night to offer ice and bottled water (free of charge) which is something I have never gotten unless I was staying in the Concierge.

I ate breakfast every morning because the buffet was included. Otherwise, the bill was $70.00 for two people. I ordered a glass of wine for $15.00 (house... by the way) and thought that was a little much. We only ate breakfast there and went out for dinner. There is too much to do outside of the hotel.

The hotel has a free shuttle to the mall which has plenty of restaurants and we were also given a ride to Chili's to eat dinner in their sedan. I'm sure there near by restaurants they will take you to. The pools are amazing and fantastic for children. They also have a kids club, but I didn't travel with my daughter, so I can't give feedback about the club. I actually didn't see any children at the hotel with an exception of a birthday party which was no interruption at all. I never went to the gym, but should have. I never actually saw the beach, but went to the beach club to pick someone on the shuttle up while finishing at the mall and it looked very nice.

It's a beautiful hotel, but please don't go there on a budget. Life wouldn't be good. I will recommend it to any client who has the money to spend and I will definitely go back. Again....... I have stayed at plenty of hotels and love this the most!!!!!! I have no complaints!

We stayed at this hotel as part of a Florida tour with Virgin Holidays for two nights.

The hotel is immaculate and everything you would expect from a hotel of this rating and price. Out of the five hotels we stayed in while in Florida this was the nicest.

The main swimming pool is huge with it's own small waterfall, lazy river ride and a water slide - which was not working while we were there. You are provided with a sun bed towel along with a towel to dry down after being in the pool. Although we hardly needed it as it was above 30 degrees centigrade for our stay. There is also a Grille by the pool although we didn't really want to spend the best part of $50 to $80 on lunchtime snacks. ( Two fruit smoothies were $21.56 without a tip!) There was also a restaurant on site but we preferred to find our own.

I used the gym facilities while there, and they were pretty good. There was almost all the machines you would require and free weights too. And best of all it was nearly empty both times i went.

The hotel is opposite a huge shopping mall, which contains four large department stores along with many other shops, and a few ok restaurants.

We didn't get chance to visit the beach club unfortunately, but there was a free bus service there which ran every fifteen minutes from 9am.

My only real complaint was the parking issue. On arrival i attempted to find somewhere to park while trying to avoid the valet parking, as i know there is a charge for this - as i had done in all the previous hotels we had stayed in throughout Florida. I twice tried to park and was told no i must valet park! So eventually i gave in and stopped right in front of the hotel where two valet guys immediately attempted to open our doors before we had even stopped! Our luggage was then rushed out of the car by another extremely eager bell boy, and my car was taken away to a carpark somewhere on site. About an hour later i realised i had left some stuff we needed in the boot/trunk. So i telephoned the valet reception and asked if it would be possible for me to get the small items out of the boot myself. Apparently this was not allowed so they had to get my car. After walking down to the valet reception, i then waited a further ten minutes for my car just to get my trainers/sneakers and gym gear out of the boot. This just seemed so ridiculous. You have to pay for valet parking, you are not allowed to go to your own car, and you have to be incovenienced waiting for your car to turn up whenever you want it. At the end of our stay we where appalled to find the valet parking was $30 per day before tax! The hotel isn't even in the main part of Miami! As we had been giving tips to the valet parking guys, despite not being completely happy with the arrangement, i refused to pay for this as we had not been told about the charge, (even though i suspected there would be one), nor had we the option to park elsewhere. (The mall across the road is free parking, although i'm not sure i would like to park there overnight).

I also believe there is a $15 or $18 charge per person per day, as this was mentioned on some of the literature in our room. Although we were not charged for this possibly because we had a deluxe room.

Overall a nice hotel just expect to spend a lot of money there!

“Nice stay outside of Miami”

My husband and I stayed at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle over the Memorial Day weekend in May 2008. I was there for a conference. We enjoyed the hotel very much. Our room was spacious and the bathroom was beautiful. The bed was comfortable. Our balcony overlooked the green of (I think) the 7th hole. The staff was very helpful and polite. Of note, the grounds crew for the golf course work on the course in the morning - not break of dawn early, but if you like to sleep really late, you might be woken up if your room faces the course. We woke up at 7am each morning to our alarm, not to the grounds crew.

Golf: We attempted to play the Soffer Course in the afternoon but we were rained out. We had a special rate due to the conference - when we were rained out, the pro shop booked us for the next morning at the same rate. If you play in the morning, be aware that you will have a forecaddie which costs extra. The golf course was beautiful and in excellent condition.

Pools: There was a smaller pool near our room which was more peaceful and intimate than the main pool. I believe this pool was adult only but I'm not 100% sure. The main pool was great with a waterfall, lazy river and a decent water slide. There are cabanas with ceiling fans for rent and wait service.

Restaurants: We ate at 2 restaurants on the premises - Michael Mina's Bourbon Steak and the Cascata Grille. The Cascata Grille is pretty informal with good food and hotel prices. Bourbon Steak has very attentive wait staff and excellent food and wine. You order your steak and if you want to order sides you can. I had the best peas and carrots ever. The prices are higher here but it is a good dining experience.

There are tennis facilities but I don't play, and we had reservations at the spa but cancelled them to do a harbor boat trip in Miami instead.

Adventura is a very nice area outside of Miami. There is a good mall with a movie theater within walking distance from the hotel but the hotel has a free shuttle. The mall is good place to spend rainy afternoons (often in Miami). There are also a lot of great restaurants in Aventura if you want to eat outside of the hotel but you may need a car to get to some of them. We spent some time in Miami which was also great. If you want to do a lot of outdoor activities there in May, you may want to plan them for the morning as we got rain every afternoon but some afternoons were less than others.

My wife and two teenage children had an enjoyable stay at the Fairmont Turnberry Isle. We had a 2-bedroom suite overlooking the golf driving range that was quite large and comfortable. The upscale hotel is conveniently located adjacent to the Aventura Mall (a huge benefit for my daughter) near the border between Miami and Fort Luaderdale. It had been awhile since I'd been to South Florida, so I hadn't realized that the hotel was a full 30 minutes from South Beach, worth noting if you plan on spending some time there. The grounds, including the pool and lazy river were quite nice. I didn't have occasion to use the golf course, but it appeared to be very nice. Note that caddies are required, at least for the early part of the day. Restaurant prices were very high. While the breakfast buffet in the Cascadia Lounge may be worth the $27 pp. price, the less costly $19 breakfast buffet in the bar area was not a good experience--the staff seemed ill prepared for the crowd, we lost seats that had been given to us, and there was very little food to be had--our only true disappointment at the hotel. Lunch by the pool was good, though again the crowd one day seemed to overwhelm the help. A short shuttle will take you to the mall or the hotel's private beach--a nice quiet location. All in all, a nice stay.
