“Ok, but dated Marriott”

Washington Marriott at Metro Center

3 of 5 stars
washington
Jul 22, 2008

Marriott Metro Center serves its purposes as a hotel central to Metro Center in DC and in the middle of everything. The hotel itself has renovated the rooms and upgraded beds; however, the renovation is what I call a quicky-one where many potential features were left off the list. For example, the rooms continue to feature the old wooden furniture and lack LCD Tvs (you still have the armoire and dated tv taking up too much of the room). In addition, the lobby is in big time need of renovation (it appears to have not been renovated in maybe 30 years). Certain areas of the hotel need upgrades.

Gym is fine with a decent amount of equipment. The hotel staff was very professional - no issues here at all.

All and all, an ok experence and worth the stay if you can get a good rate.

“Great Location”

Washington Marriott at Metro Center

5 of 5 stars
New Hampshire, USA
Jul 18, 2008

I stayed 5 nights with my 12 year old neice -this was her 1st trip to Washington D.C.
The hotel room was quite large and had two queen size beds and the bathroom was clean and a nice size.
We did use room service and the food was hot and the food was excellant.
We did eat in the couple of the restaurants- the sea foof was excellant esp. the crab cakes but on the expensive side.
The concierge desk was not very helpful, the doorman and taxi cab drivers provided alot more information. The taxi from the Reagan airport was about 13-14 $ .
We did use the On and off Trolley which was easy to use and only a couple blocks away, the night tour was awesome and that comment was from the neice.
We did go to Georgetown and had a lovely time -we took a great boat tour for 90 mimutes.
We had a great time.

“Suitable for everything”

Washington Marriott at Metro Center

Jul 14, 2008

Excellent hotel in a superb location, located within a couple of minutes walk to the excellent Washington Metro Center and several top notch restaurants. In house restaurants although pricey were good. Breakfast was too expensive, hence 4 stars!
Rooms clean, well decorated and roomy however am now under pressure from partner to buy King Sized bed!

“I can't imagine any better!”

Washington Marriott at Metro Center

Jul 1, 2008

This was our first trip to DC, and I couldn't imagine a better location than this hotel. Walk out the side door of the lobby and you are at the entrance to the Metro Center station. Easy walking distance to Chinatown and several restaurants - Five Guys is about 2 blocks away.

Rooms are fabulous - look newly renovated. Nice granite vanity in bathroom. We had no view from our room on the 5th floor, but it wasn't necessary for us.

Restaurants are nice but pricey. Good breakfast buffet for $12.50/person.

One of the best things about this hotel was the staff. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! Concierge desk was always available to answer questions and arrange for attraction tickets.

We ended up with a super rate of $127 by going through the Marriott website and checking for specials at this hotel. This was a special rate for Marriott's anniversary.

One thing we learned - DC hotels are most expensive Monday - Wednesday nights. This same room we got for $127 was $369 those nights. So plan a trip for Thursday - Sunday nights.

If we return to DC we won't even consider any other hotel - this one had everything we needed.

Valet parking was $30/night, but what are you going to do? Every hotel we checked downtown had parking fees of that or more. With the great rate we got online we could live with it.

“Very nice hotel”

Washington Marriott at Metro Center

5 of 5 stars
Minneapolis, MN
Jun 26, 2008

I stayed at the Marriott Metro Center for five nights. The hotel is in a great location: Very close to the Metro Center Station and several restaurants to choose in the area. The hotel has fourteen floors. The pool/fitness center is located on the third floor; Metro Grill (Sit down for breakfast, lunch, dinner) is located on the second floor; Starbucks (Which also sells continental breakfast items), Gift Shop and Regatta Bar are located in the lobby.

I checked in without any difficulties. The only concern I had with my room was the air conditioner was blowing out warm air (even at 60 degrees). An engineer came in my room that night to flush out the chill pipes, and immediately, cold air was being blown out from the vents. Otherwise, everything else about the room was great.

The fitness center is a decent size facility, and though the pool is not as big compared to resort areas, I thought it was more than sufficient to handle a number of guests.

I ate the Metro Grill each morning. The buffet is $16.95. Customers can also order off the menu, which I did most of the time since I am not a big breakfast eater. I had excellent service, and thought the food was good.

Price Value...I was in Washington for a conference and paid two rates: Weekend and business. I got an excellent deal for the weekend rate, but paid over $200 more per night for the business rate (I was also charged over $50/night of hotel taxes with the business rate compared to $20/night with the weekend rate). I would recommend Marriott at Metro Center for all types of travellers. At the same time, for leisure travel on a tighter budget, I suggest coming on a Thursday and leaving on a Sunday to capture the weekend rate. Keep in mind, food prices are very high in Washington. Coming to the nation's capital does make a significant dent out of anyone's budget.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Very centralized location!
    • Disliked — Nothing about the hotel...just the overall high prices seen in Washington.
