Because I had a discounted rate through a family member who works for Marriott, this turned out to be a real bargain for me in a city where lodging can be pricey. That being said, however, this was an excellent 5-night stay in all respects.
The hotel still looks brand new. My room seemed unused - bedspreads and carpet showed no wear whatsoever, and the room and bathroom were both large, bright and very clean. Very comfortable king-size bed. The staff was very helpful and friendly. There were also an in-room refrigerator and in-room safe.
The refrigerator was extremely convenient, because on the ground level of the Flora shopping mall across the street from the hotel is a good supermarket. That came in very handy, and it can be a real cost-saver, because the breakfast at the Courtyard, while providing a very broad array of food, is highly overpriced.
If you're looking for Old World charm, this is not the hotel for you. This very modern hotel could be have been built a few months ago in Des Moines and one wouldn't know the difference. It's a Courtyard, after all. But for modern convenience and comfort, and an excellent value while exploring the real Old World charm of the actual city that you've come to explore, it would be hard to beat this hotel.
One final note: DO NOT be put off by its location 2 km from the Old Town Square. Actually, location is one of the assets of this hotel. Here's why:
1. Its prices are lower as a result of its not being located right in the historic center.
2. The Flora metro stop is right across the street under the Flora shopping mall, and it is on the A (Green) metro line that takes you directly, without transfer, to the historic center of town in 8-10 minutes.
3. You can travel to and from the airport directly to the hotel for about $1.60 each way. The 119 bus from the airport terminal takes you directly to the end of the A (Green) metro line, and that in turn takes you directly, without transfer, to the Flora metro stop 8 stops away. The Flora metro stop is directly across the street from the hotel. (Simply come up from the metro, walk into and half-way through the shopping mall, and cross the street to the hotel.) Total time: about 45 minutes. Total cost: $1.60. A taxi into town from the airport to another hotel will likely take you more than 30 minutes and cost you around $40.
4. You'll find that the 4-level Flora shopping mall will offer you some quick conveniences. In addition to the supermarket, there is also a good drugstore, and there are several different ATM machines in the mall. Not to mention dry cleaners/laundry, internet cafes, etc. Very modern, very convenient.
This hotel was an excellent place to spend the night so that I could explore with gusto the beautiful city of Prague. Highly recommended.
