Having read some of the reviews on Tripadvisor my wife and I were a little worried, but we consoled ourselves with the thought that we got a big discount on the book price.
However, we were both pleasantly surprised.
The staff on the desk were most helpful, and all spoke good English. They even had a meal for us when we turned up at 1.30am, after horrendous flight delays.
It was a bit difficult to find our room at first, as the hotel is spread across a number of buildings on the mountainside, but it did mean we had great views walking down to the restaurant
The room was perfectly adequate and clean, with stunning views of the lake and town. One thing we did take heed of was the comments about towels; so we took our own, and just as well we did! The towels provided are minute, and not actually proper towels at all!
We had a shared balcony (most have their own), but this wasn't really a problem as the only times we used it, our neighbours were out.
Contrary to one or two comments I read, the food is absolutely fine, and there is plenty of it. My wife is very particular about her food, but was happy with it! OK, it's not cordon bleu, but there is plenty of choice for all and it is attractively served.
Wine at the table is very reasonably priced.
The waiters and waittresses, mainly from Eastern Europe are very polite.
By the way, the view from the restaurant is absolutely stunning!
The hotel is about 20 minutes walk from the town, which is mostly downhill from the hotel, but quite a trek coming coming back, particularly walking up the long driveway to the hotel. Having said that, we are both in our mid-50s, and walked both ways most days. By the way, if you are walking to the town, cross the road and go down the lane by the bus stop, which leads straight in to the town. On our first day we walked along the main road and through the tunnels, a truly death-defying feat!
For those who don't want to walk there is an hourly minibus, which costs 1 euro each way.
There is an excellent "wellness" centre in the hotel, and a pizza-bar, which serves very nice snack-type meals. There is also a small shop on-site, selling food, drink, books etc.
Overall, we had a very nice stay. We would not necessarily go back to either Limone or this hotel, but only because we are not really the type to go back to the same place twice!
