“Lovely hotel in the right spot.”

Locanda Ca' del Brocchi

Devon, England
Feb 8, 2008

We eventually found the hotel after a 20 minute hunt as it's not the easiest to find. Once found it’s easy to get to, and is in a nice location just out of the way of the main tourist routes.
The hotel itself was lovely and the staff very helpful although English was not their speciality. I quite liked that.
The rooms have a luxurious feel and are decorated in a typical Italian way and really add to the 'Venice' experience.
I got quite exited when I saw the Jacuzzi bath but it didn't work - this was also mentioned in a previous review, I just hoped they had fixed it.
I can’t complain as we got the room at a very reasonable price and I thought it was definately value for money.
Breakfast was bread and croissants with coffee and tea and although not special it was sufficient for fuelling yourself for a day in Venice.
Maps are supplied in each room for the guests to take and the hotel is a lovely retreat after a long day looking around.
I recommend this hotel as it had a lovely feel to it along with a great location and friendly staff.
The only negative point was that two short local phone calls from my room to the airport cost about £20. He did seem to be tapping away on his calculator a lot to get to the final price. Still, all considered, good value for money (not easy in Venice) and we would definately go back there if we ever returned.

“What ever happened to a confirmed reservation?”

We booked this small hotel over the internet with the hotel staff (Nicola) in March '07 for a two night stay in October '07. We did all the usual stuff...sending credit card info, receiving confirmation, re-confirming several weeks ahead with arrival time etc. But when we arrived our personal and credit card information was just lying around where anyone could see it and we were literally whisked (our luggage was quickly taken and we were told to follow) off to some other hotel....no explanations (the woman who whisked us off was an employee who did not speak English), no apology (apparently they had double booked) , and no refund even though the advertised rates of the place we were dumped were less than 164 euro charged by Locanda Ca' del Brocchi. Over all it showed very bad business practices and poor book keeping. I can't imagine taking a chance reserving there again.

“Cute Rooms, Nice Neighborhood”

We stayed at this B&B for three nights as a part of our Italian honeymoon. We followed the map from the website and had no problem finding the place. When we arrived we were informed that our room was having some work done and we would be staying in a room in another hotel down the street. Because I spoke very little Italian, I did not quite understand at first that this would be for only one night. The staff member (I cannot remember her name) was very sweet and lugged my very heavy luggage down the street and up the stairs to our room.

At first I was quite distressed because the room we were put in was *very* small and did not have an attached bathroom. We had paid for a Superior room and I expected an attached bathroom. The room was so small that I could turn out the overhead light while lying in bed. Thankfully, the next morning we were moved into the correct room at Ca del Brocchi and they gave us a discount for the one night in the other room.

Our actual room at Ca del Brocchi was nicely decorated, clean and much more spacious, but the shower was extremely small and did not have a place to put toiletries, which made things very difficult since you could not bend over to pick things up without opening the shower doors. I thought that the Superior room would have a larger shower, especially considering that the rest of the bathroom was quite spacious for Italian standards.

The neighborhood was absolutely the best part of our stay. We loved being in the quiet residential area that had so many cute little artistic shops that provided peaceful shopping. It was fairly close to both the Accademia and Zattere vaporetto stops, making it convienent to get to any other part of Venice.

Breakfast was limited, but decent enough. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and the staff were friendly and very helpful, even though we sometimes could not communicate as well as we would have liked. (Our fault, as we did not study our Italian as hard as we should have in the midst of getting ready for a wedding.)

“Splendid stay.”

My wife and I had a fantastic 3 night stay in this lovely hotel. Great
location off the beaten path in the Dorsoduro just steps from the Peggy Guggenheim Museum.

Very quiet place to sleep. Wonderful room and fairly large bathroom for Europe.

The staff were very accommodating. We would definetly consider staying
again.

“Wonderful”

I just spent one night at Locanda Ca' del Brocchi in their new apt. a 10 minute walk from their main location. The owner Niccola and his brother were such wonderful hosts. Niccola went as far as to meet us at the Accademia Bridge and help my husband lug our luggage to his place. More impressive the next morning he met us at 7:15AM and helped us maneuver our luggage to the docks where we caught the Aliguna back to Marco Polo Airport. He was a very kind host and most gracious. I would highly recommend families inquiring about the apt. we stayed in. It has two beautiful spacious rooms, a bathroom, sitting area and a small kitchen area and table. Locanda Ca'del Brocchi is located in the Accademia area which is known for artisans. It's very quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of San Marco. No gondolas and hoards of tourists at night. The location gives you the feeling you are in the living section of Venice.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — spaciousness of the apartment
    • Disliked — very quiet area, preferred more hustle and bustle of San Marco; however it is perfect for those who are seeking a quieter Venice.
