I recently went to Barcelona for the first time with my girlftriend and we stayed at the B-Hotel and had an absolutely amazing time. This hotel is extremely chic and in a great location for those who prefer not to stay too close to the madness of the Ramblas. It is very close to the Magic Fountain which has an amazing light and music show in the evenings. Getting to the Ramblas, the beach and the marina is extremely easy as there is a Metro station and a bus stop incredibly nearby and Spanish public transport is fast, clean, very cheap and air conditioned.
The hotel itself is beautifully designed and has an amazing roof top deck with sun loungers, complete with an infinity pool, which is a great place to chill out after a day's sightseeing or before heading off at night. The rooms themselves are great too and have excellent bathrooms although the lighting takes some getting used to! Our only criticism would be the awful overpriced breakfasts. Guests would do better to walk around the corner to Paul's the upmarket bakers and buy some top notch pastries instead.
Incidentally, we'd heard that Barcelona could be dangerous with lot's of muggings but we felt quite safe strolling through the town at midnight.
Finally, this hotel appeals to couples of all sexual persuasions but is not suitable for families, as it lacks child friendly facilities.
