We recently stayed at the Jesmond Dene.
My basic requirements are that the rooms be clean and comfortable, and neither was an issue (i.e., it's a nice "tourist" hotel, not "upscale" but nice). The rate we payed seemed quite reasonable (breakfast included - not much selection ("full English breakfast" or cereal), but nevertheless a good jumpstart for a day of siteseeing). The staff were extremely helpful and efficient.
The hotel itself is located near the King's Cross/St Pancras underground and train station (maybe a 5 minute walk) with lots of decent restaurants nearby. The British Library is less than a 10 minute walk away, and the British Museum perhaps a 25 minute walk (or take the underground).
The location is good with reasonable rates, the rooms are clean and comfortable (albeit a tad small - but we're in Europe) and breakfast is included. I'd definitely stay here again.
One thing I should mention... when we stayed, the rooms were not air conditioned (fans were in the rooms - which, due to London's climate are sufficient for all but the hottest days). That said, they appeared to be in the process of installing A/C. If you feel your room must have A/C, then should probably contact the hotel directly and inquire about it.
