“A fantastic place!”

Maison du Fort

Madame Marielle and the personable staff make this tiny hotel a real winner. The unbeatable location--steps from the Frontenac and the Plains of Abraham-- also helps.

It was a relief to leave the car in the underground parking and simply stroll the city, content in the knowledge the our well-furnished and comfortable rooms were but a short walk away from the action. Not having to take a bus in and out of the city from Ste-Foy also saved time and reduced stress. We could pop in for a rest whenever we wanted during the day, and felt quite private. The atmosphere in the hotel was always calm and pleasant. The breakfast was better than expected, with homemade cakes, pastries and juice to get us going. Staff were always helpful and greeted us with a smile.

All in all, the Maison du Fort was the perfect choice for our weekend in Quebec City. It was a thrill to stay in the old town, and the price was very reasonable considering the location. We now understand why this hotel has such high ratings, and we happily confirm that it is the place to stay when visiting Quebec.

We loved Maison du Fort. The Innkeeper, Marianne, was so friendly and helpful. Everything she suggested was an excellent choice. The hotel is only a block from restaurants and shops but on a very quiet side street. The room was charming and the continental breakfast very tasty with homemade breads, and coffee/tea/juice. We plan to go back.

“Wonderful stay at the Maison du Fort!!!!”

Maison du Fort

My wife and I spent 5 nights at the Maison du Fort, during the first week of July 2008, for the 400ième anniversaire de Québec and the Festival d'été. Mme Marielle Roy is a great hostess. She made us feel so at home during our stay. I love French music and enjoyed talking with her about the different artists that were in the city during our stay. She also helped us have our bags delivered to the hotel after Air Canada lost them on our flight. Merci beaucoup encore!!

We stayed in room #10 at the top of the stairs. It is one of the nicest I've stayed in; the picture on the website certainly does not do it justice. Our room was large, beautifully decorated, comfortable and very clean as is the entire hotel!! It was very bright and sunny due to the large windows and had a nice view of the Chateau Frontenac and the street below. The room is not air conditioned, but very comfortable with the screened windows open and the fan on. There is no phone in the room (you use the one in the hall downstairs which accepts credit cards and telephone cards), but it does have a flat screen TV and free wireless internet (though the signal was not strong being at the top floor).

The hotel location is excellent. It is on Rue St. Geneviève in Vielle Quebec, between the Chateau Frontenac and the Citadelle. While it's within easy walking distance to all the sights (and crowds of tourists), it's tucked away in an area that is quiet and calm. The only noise heard from our room was the sound of the calèches on the street below.

I try to visit Québec City and/or Montréal every other year and am so happy to have discovered this wonderful hotel, knowing that I'll have the perfect place to stay on future visits.

I discovered this hotel on TripAdvisor and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Québec City. You'll have a great stay.

The hotel is in a perfect central location for all of the things you would want to see in Quebec City. We booked this hotel based on reviews in here and I agree with all of the positive ones. Marielle treated us like family and was there to greet us as we arrived. She was very helpful with tips in navigating the city and attractions. She made our stay in this beautiful city all the more enjoyable.

Maison du Fort

We were THRILLED with our stay in Room #1 at Hotel Maison du Fort for Quebec City's 400th birthday. The completely bi-lingual owner was very kind and helped us in countless ways. We'll visit again and recommend it to everyone.
