Mme Marielle Roy, the owner of Maison Du Fort has done an incredible job of creating a wonderful little inn experience for her guests when visiting Quebec. Her inn is exceedingly charming, as she is herself. Not a detail is missed, down to the battenburg lace shower curtain. If you like cats, request room 5, since the decor has a cat theme! Room 5 is spacious and cheery and has a lovely little sitting area by one of the windows. The bed was firm but not too firm, very comfortable. The mini breakfast consisting of delicious baked goods, juice and coffee/tea is served downstairs in the breakfast room, on top of a piano. Tres elegante!! She also is most generous with allowing guests to befriend her two cats, who are both also quite lovely. I will definitely go back someday! Maison Du Fort, as one would guess by it's name, is located on a quiet street very near the Citadelle, and within a couple blocks of the Fairmont's Chateau Frontenac, so essentially it is perfectly located.
As for Quebec itself, it's charming, beautiful, friendly to tourists, and full of history. But when you pack, remember that Quebec is pretty far north and pretty hilly, so bring a warm jacket, or a rain jacket, and some good walking shoes! Also, while there, be sure to visit the Lowes revolving restaurant to get a spectacular view of the entire city. It's beautiful!

Stayed 4 nights at the Maison du Fort in late April. We had booked Room 11 at the very top of the stairs (2 bedrooms, bath, and kitchenette). Nice view over the roof tops of the Chateau and the mountains in the distance. Another of our party moved to the front room on the first floor after finding that the stair climbing proved too much for him. Depending on which room you get you can have a small room and rather small bathroom. Room 11 at the top of the stairs was a nice size, but the bathroom may prove to be rather small for some folks. Our friend on the first floor loved his accommodations, nice size room and bathroom. Each of the rooms had a television set. I don't believe there is AC, although we wouldn't have needed it in April. Breakfast was more than enough for me: coffee, tea, juice, yogurt, fruit, baked goods. No, it wasn't a hot sit down breakfast or "gourmet", but a good start to the day. The breakfast room is rather small, but trays are provided so that you can take your breakfast to your room should you wish.
Overall, I loved the place. I thought it was very pretty, bright, clean, quiet (we were not there at the height of the tourist season), nice furnishings, and very well located.
Marielle, our hostess, is the best asset. She is very friendly, inviting, warm, and helpful. I would recommend this inn and I would stay here again.

My family had the pleasure of staying at Maison du Fort for 4 days. I booked our room after reading TripAdvisor reviews and like many others, we also had a wonderful experience. The location is convenient to everything. Both the hotel and our room were spotless. We stayed in the apartment and it was lovely, cozy and gave us all a bit of room. Most of all, Marielle was a wonderful hostess. Her cheerful greetings made us feel like we were coming home and she was always available to provide valuable information on sights and restaurants. The breakfast she provided was also very nice. I would definitely recommend Maison du Fort to anyone looking for a wonderful B+B experience in Quebec City.

This trip was a gift for my husband and me in retirement and, as it turned out, was a gift in so many other ways!

The travel directions were clear, concise and brought us to the Maison Du Fort with no difficulties at all--not one. My husband did get a little turned around when going to park the car but that was the last time we were "turned around" for our entire stay.

Marielle is the proprietress of the Maison Du Fort and was there to greet us with warmth and enthusiasm. She was a fount of information and conversation, offered suggestions if asked, gave us useful maps and bulletins but, otherwise, let us just explore. She always was interested and curious about how we filled our day. Marielle is proud of her establishment. It is evident in the love and care, the thought that goes into each room and into the needs of each guest.
Our room was large and very comfortable, especially the bed! It included a bath that was impeccably clean. Not a necessity or an amenity was overlooked. Marielle had a satisfying continental breakfast ready every morning at about 8:00, complete with trays to take back to our room if we chose to wake up and eat in private. She also included an English- language newspaper for our pleasure--a fact that both my husband and I appreciated very much.

The B&B was within walking distance of everything we wanted to see or could want to see in the Old City. So much to explore, so little time! We will be back and we will stay at the Maison Du Fort. Merci, Marielle!
