“Nice but not much there”

Novotel Toronto Airport

Mixed feelings about this hotel. I was originally confused because I think there was a different Novotel near the airport that obviously is no more. Thanks to tripadvisor, I knew this was a former Best Western when I booked..

I paid about $150 for one night and was satisfied. The decor and furnishings are upscale although nothing remarkable. Good bed and bedding. Staff were always helpful and pleasant.

However, it is not a full service hotel. It is a five story building off the main Airport Road strip where the other brand name hotels are - still close to the airport but feels isolated. If you don't have a car, you would feel quite isolated - very little retail or restaurants nearby without a long walk..

Only breakfast is served at the hotel. No business centre except a computer and printer in a quiet corner of the lobby. I didn't have time to check the pool and don't know where it was. The binder of hotel services in my room didn't say anything about the pool, or the breakfast.

Wi-fi was free but spotty and collapsed on me several times; the staff told me they had had problems with it for the last couple of days. No paper at my door, which I expect at better hotels, but a few copies of the Globe in the lobby.

Although you won't see any signs in the lot, parking is $10. But like other reviewers here, it wasn't difficult to get this waived.

The planes do fly right overhead, but noise is minimal; I didn't hear them at all.

Assuming you are just coming from or going to the airport, this is okay for a night. But I wouldn't stay longer, especially without a car.

“Great Beds”

Novotel Toronto Airport

The girl I made my reservations with could use a lesson in customer service as she was very rude, but the people who checked us in both days were very nice. We used this hotel as a stop-over for our 1 week vacation so we stayed before our trip ($139)and after our trip($105).
This hotel claims it is the closest hotel to the airport. That may be correct 'as the crow flies'. However you will see that you pass many hotels that are closer enroute.

The lobby is very nice, and they have a breakfast area that is nicely decorated. Breakfast comes at an extra charge. We paid $16 for 4 stale muffins & 2 orange juice.

I wouldn't call this hotel fancy by any standards, The rooms are simply decorated with incredibly comforable beds with great pillows & a duvet. The bed alone was worth the stay. Big flat screen TV too. Very faint sound of planes. Actually the girl vacuming the hall outside our room in the am was louder than the planes.
You get the usual shampoo, soaps & such but it took all 4 of us to get the lid off the shampoo on both stays. An older person could not possibly get the lid off.

We stayed on the 5th floor the 2nd time and we had to take 2 defferent elevators to get there.

Their parking is in a 2 level covered garage which was nice.
The airport shuttle was very efficient on the way to the airport but we probably waited 30 minutes to be picked back up after our trip.

i have just returned from a week at the above hotel. The hotel is magnificent and i have never experienced such incredible service before. this was my 1st trip to canada

The staff at the front desk where great they where willing to help
at any time,

I asked them Questions they always had the answer.

I took down some english chocolate to the staff as a thank you and they where happy

The only thing i would say for me was that they use cream power and i can unable to take milk powder. but again i asked if they has normal milk and they where happy to services me.

you would also need a car to get any where as it is in the middle of no where.

there is a place called Coffetime about 5mins walk down the road. It is open 24 hrs aday.
