“Location was the only good point”

Booked through ratestogo.com for an overnight stay when our flight was cancelled. Service and cleanliness were terrible. We booked a non-smoking room but were told on check-in that because we had booked the same day, had to take a smoking room. Front desk service extremely slow and rude.
Went to our room to find that it had not been made up since last guests, still had dirty sheets in the middle of the bed etc. Went back to ask for new room/room to be made up and staff rude and unapologetic. Got a new room (still smoking one - absolutely reeked and no windows to air it out, the smell stunk out all of our travel gear) but it was still not very clean, eg. hairs still in the bathroom. Overall extremely poor service and hygiene.

Also on checking out we were billed a much higher rate than the one we had secured through the website, tried to explain to the front desk but they refused to budge and we had no choice but to pay about $35-40 over.

“Good price, but with issues”

Made reservation at AA.com.
Good - not great - price that did include free parking. However, the lot was very poorly kept with very little lighting and difficult to see stripes. It is a dump and especially the rear part of the facility. I did not feel comfortable parking my car here.

Front desk folks were superb. Very nice and accommodating.

A/C units in the room were too loud. They worked well, but were far too noisy. Speaking of noisy, I could not believe how noisy it was inside - especially with the doors. They actually slammed shut and we heard many, many doors that night. This was very bothersome and needs to be addressed immediately. They don't have to slam shut!

One last issue. My daughter and I tried to use one of the 2 business center computers. Just our luck, but on both nights there was some type of family reunion. No kidding...10-15 people including small kids were crammed into this room all vying for computer time. No time limits or any attempt by the desk folks to limit either time or even the number of people in this small space.

Bottom line: Good price, but I would not stay there again. You can do better.

“Nice hotel but disappointed with Hotel Shuttle”

Best Western Travel Inn

3 of 5 stars
Calgary, AB
May 7, 2008

Stayed one night during a layover in Toronto before flying to Calgary. The reviews were good and the cleaniness and ammenities did not dissappoint. I probably would have ranked this 5/5 considering the price but I dropped it all the way to a 3/5 because of the hotel shuttle.

I called in advance to confirm that the shuttle was free and that all I had to do was call the hotel when I arrived at the airport that evening. Unfortunately our flight was delayed and we got in past midnight. When I called for the shuttle I was informed that the shuttle stops at midnight and i had to take a cab. The cab cost $27 dollars for a 5 minute ride. This was ridiculous. The main reason why i booked here was because of the shuttle. I was not informed that the shuttle service ends at a particular time and that the only other alternative was a money goughing cab ride.

When we got there we discussed this with the front desk and he was utterly unsympathetic. "It's a complementary service" is all he kept saying. Fair enough, but his attitude was not helpful at all.

Next morning we booked the shuttle early and made sure it was available.

“All in all a great deal”

I've looked on TripAdvisor many times before travelling,so I figured it was time to pay back to the community. I was looking for a less expensive alternative to the Metro Toronto hotels, and in this place we've found a winner. I booked a single queen, and folks I were travelling with booked a double queen. Rooms were spacious, clean, and neat. We both had a larger than usual fridge, and a small microwave. The hotel is about 15 miles from the downtown TO core. Highway 427 is right around the corner, which made the short trip downtown quick. The hotel is far enough away from the airport,so you don't have any jet noise. There is a real nice park (Centenial) bordering the property. The free breakfast was standard fare, nothing special. If you are a hotel "snob",this might not be the place for you. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable place, and don't need all the hotel frills, this is your place ! For the price I paid ($78),I think this was a great bargain.

“Great Price for Short Layover Stay”

Best Western Travel Inn

When I'm traveling through Canada and end up in Toronto for an overnight stay, I always find myself at the Best Western Travel Inn Toronto! It's close to the airport, so I can sleep in and not worry about traffic, there's an hourly shuttle, the rooms are HUGE and comfortable and the price is unbeatable.

I've stay here about 3 times now in the past 3 months, and have never had any complaints. If you're catching an early flight, your AM driver will be Paul, who's from Ireland and can weave a good spell during the 5 minute drive to the airport!
