“Excellent service (thank you Evan!) and good location”

InterContinental Toronto Yorkville

4 of 5 stars
Netherlands
Aug 2, 2008

We stayed for 6 nights at the Intercontinental Yorkville, Toronto and can really recommend this hotel. We stayed in a junior suite. The hotel is not very new and could use some little updating (no flat screen etc). The room and bathroom were large: bed comfortable. Though the lightning insufficient and old. That is our only minor point. And for being Europeans we believed the central fresh air system was very noisy and too cold (15 degrees Celsius). It was not possible to switch that off in your room.
However the service was excellent; staff very helpful and correct. Concierge Evan helped us organize all our trips and even booked our tickets for the Canadian football and cinema. The restaurants around the hotel are very good and we loved the location as it still has a little bit of the old town charm.

“good modern hotel experience”

Good modern hotel with great staff. Excellent patio bar and grill, and “Best of Trip” Eggs Benedict at breakfast. (We stayed in seven different hotels during our Canada trip) Great area to stay within Toronto. Convenient (by taxi or public transport) for all main tourist attractions.

“Great, Comfy Hotel”

InterContinental Toronto Yorkville

5 of 5 stars
The O.C., California

I went with my husband and his family which consisted of adults, teenagers and children that ranged from 4-17. The staff is so polite, as they would open the automatic doors for us whenever we would come close to the hotel (they must've known that we were coming!) The pool is on the roof, and it is very small (a little lap pool), but the kids had fun in it none-the-less. Beds are SOOOOO comfy! I want to BUY their pillows and comforters..... wow!

On the other hand, I wasn't too impressed with their bath towels, though. They didn't exactly look too "white", and seemed to have makeup stains on them. The cleaning service wasn't too good at picking up the dirty towels either, but that may have to do with water conservation? Also the toilet wouldn't flush very well.

We had a great stay at this hotel, and I wouldn't discount it too much just because of a lazy cleaning lady. You definitely get what you pay for, and it is in a GREAT location! I could walk around at 11 at night by myself and not be worried (I'm a girl). And the surrounding restaurants/pubs are excellent! (Try Eggstacy on Bay Street, and the pub on Prince Arthur (behind the hotel) ).

Just be sure that if you book this hotel in particular, that you realize that there are 2 InterContinental's in the city (can be so confusing when you come from the airport and DON'T know this).

“Very nice hotel”

InterContinental Toronto Yorkville

4 of 5 stars
Arlington, VA
Jul 16, 2008

I was staying in Toronto with family for roughly five days, and we needed a nice hotel in an interesting location. I found an incredibly low rate on Hotwire for the Intercontinental, and we paid roughly half of the original room rate. Honestly, it's one of the better deals I've ever received for the quality of the room and the price.

The Intercontinental - Yorkville is in a nice part of town, just across the street from the music conservatory and another block or two from the University of Toronto. Also, it's a block or two from the Shoe Museum, which is a Must See. Although we were just a few floors up from the street, our hotel room was quiet at night.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If you can snare a low rate for this hotel through Hotwire, it's really a great bargain. We would absolutely return to this hotel.

“Stylish and convenient”

InterContinental Toronto Yorkville

5 of 5 stars
Connecticut
Jul 16, 2008

A beautiful hotel located right on the border between the section of Bloor Street defined by high fashion and that defined by the University of Toronto. It is within easy walking distance of both districts -- and only a block or two from the St. George station on Toronto's user-friendly subway system.

The staff simply couldn't be kinder or more helpful. This is especially true of the concierges, Carolina and Evan. They helped us with everything from local travel to restaurants and shopping, and their advice was unfailingly on target. Invest some time on the concierge web site -- both the one on the main hotel page and the more detailed one that comes with the email confirmation of your reservation a few days before arrival. These are terrific guides to the city.

The lobby of the hotel is modest, but the rooms are both large and very comfortable. They are also remarkably quiet: no noise either from outside or from your neighbors. We ate dinner one night in the outdoor cafe, which features tapas and a vast selection of drinks. It was both stylish and relaxed, and the food was remarkably good. Breakfast in the hotel's restaurant was included in our rate, and we heartily recommend it. Wonderful fresh orange juice and world-class coffee. The granola was the best I've ever had, and others praised their eggs and pastries. Here, again, the service was both attentive and friendly.

This is a great place to base yourself for anything except a heavy-duty mission in the financial district. The neighborhood is a delight, with a wonderful cluster of restaurants, shops, night spots, museums, and coffee houses.

Our party of four had absolutely no reservations. This is a terrific place, cheaper and less pretentious than the nearby Four Seasons and Hyatt, but every bit as good.
