“Very nice hotel”

InterContinental Toronto Yorkville

4 of 5 stars
Arlington, VA
Jul 16, 2008

I was staying in Toronto with family for roughly five days, and we needed a nice hotel in an interesting location. I found an incredibly low rate on Hotwire for the Intercontinental, and we paid roughly half of the original room rate. Honestly, it's one of the better deals I've ever received for the quality of the room and the price.

The Intercontinental - Yorkville is in a nice part of town, just across the street from the music conservatory and another block or two from the University of Toronto. Also, it's a block or two from the Shoe Museum, which is a Must See. Although we were just a few floors up from the street, our hotel room was quiet at night.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. If you can snare a low rate for this hotel through Hotwire, it's really a great bargain. We would absolutely return to this hotel.

“Stylish and convenient”

InterContinental Toronto Yorkville

A beautiful hotel located right on the border between the section of Bloor Street defined by high fashion and that defined by the University of Toronto. It is within easy walking distance of both districts -- and only a block or two from the St. George station on Toronto's user-friendly subway system.

The staff simply couldn't be kinder or more helpful. This is especially true of the concierges, Carolina and Evan. They helped us with everything from local travel to restaurants and shopping, and their advice was unfailingly on target. Invest some time on the concierge web site -- both the one on the main hotel page and the more detailed one that comes with the email confirmation of your reservation a few days before arrival. These are terrific guides to the city.

The lobby of the hotel is modest, but the rooms are both large and very comfortable. They are also remarkably quiet: no noise either from outside or from your neighbors. We ate dinner one night in the outdoor cafe, which features tapas and a vast selection of drinks. It was both stylish and relaxed, and the food was remarkably good. Breakfast in the hotel's restaurant was included in our rate, and we heartily recommend it. Wonderful fresh orange juice and world-class coffee. The granola was the best I've ever had, and others praised their eggs and pastries. Here, again, the service was both attentive and friendly.

This is a great place to base yourself for anything except a heavy-duty mission in the financial district. The neighborhood is a delight, with a wonderful cluster of restaurants, shops, night spots, museums, and coffee houses.

Our party of four had absolutely no reservations. This is a terrific place, cheaper and less pretentious than the nearby Four Seasons and Hyatt, but every bit as good.

“Very Nice, Very $$$, Watch for the Construction.”

InterContinental Toronto Yorkville

Well, we wanted to divert our trip to show our kids Toronto. Had a nice rate (relatively speaking) for the IC, and read good reviews of the property. It is a relatively unassuming property. Well located. Staff was nice, rooms were excellent. We were there on a weekend, and, looking out of our room was a huge construction site and a crane about 30 stories up. During the week, this could be an issue for you. As our dollar is now about worth a peso, the price of everything was about 2 to 3 x a US property. We came, we saw, we left. Staff was nice and the hotel was lovely. I would call and check about the construction before I'd go back again.

“Loved it!”

InterContinental Toronto Yorkville

Jun 27, 2008

Me and my wife had a great time. Excellent service, bright rooms, great food. Just across the street is Royal Ontario Museum with the new addition. Beautiful Bloor Street shopping district literary steps away. We have booked our trip through Expedia (www.expedia.com) and we bought our burglar deterrent CD from www.DeterrentSounds.com), so we had a peace of mind when we left for vacation. Stayed: 7 days. Downtown Toronto.

This is a great hotel no matter how you look at it. I am a Priority Club member, and decided to use my PC points to stay at this property, and completely enjoyed it. My only complaint would be that the view from some of the rooms isn't great right at the moment with the construction going on on the adjoining property, but that was only a minor inconvenience.
The room was large and spotless, and the staff were friendly and professional. Parking was not too bad, considering the location. I never had a chance to use the restaurant, because I returned to the hotel too late in the evening, but thankfully there was a 24 hour McDonald's just steps away to satisfy a 1am hunger!
If you are there with your significant other, you can go up to the roof, and take a look at the excellent views of the city, or use the indoor, rooftop lap pool. ( the pool was a bit cold for my liking, but I'm picky.)

All in all, a beautiful hotel, on the edge of Yorkville, only a short walk to the shops and restaurants in the beautiful Yorkville neighbourhoods, or the high-end Bloor St. shops, just a couple of blocks away. Oh, and of course it's right across the street from the ROM.
