This hotel is full of outrageous regulations. First and foremost, absolutely NO guests of yours are allowed to be in your ... room. I had a friend over, and they actually had a security guard come upstairs and physically escort us into the hotel lobby. They were not at all lenient about it. another crazy regulation is that the beach closes at 7, when there is still sun out. again, a security personnel would come to the beach and not leave until everyone is out of the water. We ended up going a quarter mile down and swimming at some other hotel's beach.

On top of all this, during the one day that we decided to relax in the hotel room, there was incredibly loud banging and construction, which forced us to leave and go to a local mall.

On the positive side, the hotel is indeed clean. the cleaning staff and restaurant staff were all very cordial and friendly. the food at the buffet is not bad, but does get very repetitive after a few days. they have a more fancy Italian restaurant, drinks, appetizers were good, but the food was very average. I really do not recommend this hotel, but I suppose it is ok for travelers with young kids as they do have a nice swimming pool, and some kids activities at night. The location of the hotel was in the middle of the hotel zone, but too far of a walk to the clubs.

I do not recommend this hotel at all, regardless of its price.

My girlfriend & I were in cancun for 5 nites and had a very pleasent stay at the Park Royal.
The hotel is a little dated (not a lot of luxury), but very clean and a very nice place for the money.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was a little bland, and not much varity, but was ok....but we didn't go there to eat anyway....if you want real mexican food, go downtown.
We were given a suite with a logoon view, and ask for one with an ocean view and were given one. The place is family oriented, but it does have an adults only pool and bar on the upper level so you can get away from the crowds. The drinks were just so so, but a little tip and make friends with the bartender, and they get better...
All in all, we had a very pleasent stay and would reccommend it as a clean, nice, medium priced place to stay.

Great Hotel, very conveniently located in Cancun, near the Isla Shopping Mal and yet still close to the Flea Market on the street.

Good Beach, not great, but the best in that spot.

The staff was great for all our stay. My girlfriend has allergies to many foods so she can't eat from the buffet and they made her vustom food every day for dinner and supper. The italian restaurant is good too, but you have to reserve soon.

There's an access to a little mayan ruin, nothing extraordinary but it makes a great introduction and has a great view on the ocean.

Personnel is very polite and happy to answer. Currency exchange was actually at the current exchange rate, no commission taken, wish I would have know that at the beginning.

We were in an All-Included so no tip required at all and Room Service was excellent, everything was clean.

My husband and I booked a "suite" here in February and I am just now able to write about our terrible experience. To make a long story short (so you can get to other reviews) the place is outdated and dumpy. We tested the buffet when we got there and the food was so horrible. Very little variety...looked like it had been around for a long time, very bad. The "suite" was two old hotel rooms with a connecting door inbetween. Outdated wicker furniture, no king bed, two full size beds. Not very clean. There was a green film on the pool. The beach photos are deceiving. This place reminded me of a place that would be perfect for a bunch of college age guys wanting a place to crash on spring break. Families and couples stay away. Needless to say, we were there for 3 hours until we could book another hotel (Hilton - AMAZING) Also - don't use the computer in the lobby....dial up and it blocks all travel sites. We had to have our sister in the states book us the Hilton online! :)
