“Getting Old, Needs a Facelift”

Club Embarcadero Pacifico

3 of 5 stars
JENKINTOWN, PA
Apr 14, 2008

The staff is still very quick to help when they can and everything about the place is friendly. The biggest problem is that it is getting old and needs work that is beyond the ability of the staff. They have light fixtures that do not work and air conditioning that blows warm air. The ceiling fans are hit or miss. You may get a unit that the fan works in the living room, but not the bedroom. We tried 3 different rooms and finally gave up on finding one that had working air conditioning. The first two rooms were missing the coffee maker so we bought one, only to be put in a third on that had a small one. The third room had a broken light fixture in the bathroom sink area and the only light came from the hallway. The same for the dresing are in the bedroom. They had removed the fixture. They also removed the television from the bedroom and disconnected the cable line so you could not move the living room tv into te bedroom. The room (in the Villas) was huge and had a pit group that would have slept three extra people. The views are wonderful fom the oversized veranda. the Veranda was probably 20' x 30' and had tables, chairs and lounge chairs. This was probaby a magnificent hotel 20 years ago and with some work would be nice again. They had only one area open at any one time for food and the menu was the same every day. The bar area was very small and not always open. If the pool bar was open the other areas were closed. Even getting towels was difficult. By 2:30 in the afternoon the towel stand had closed and you had no way of getting one.

Alright, first off I want to explain that I am a college student and I went to puerto vallarta for a cheap spring break experience. I was not looking for luxury just a room to pass out in when the partying was over. The Club embarcadero started out nice. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived, but we didn't mind we just went and started taking advantage of the free drinks. When we got our room we didn't mind that it was no bigger than a walk in closet because we knew we wouldn't be spending much time in it. Our balcony was less that a balcony, it could only hold two people, had no view except of a pidgeon nest, and there was bird crap all over it! After seeing the room things seemed to go down hill. WE ate our first dinner up on the basketball court. Not a mexican food experience. Us girls liked to call is "SHLOP" Pasta, fried fish, biscuits, and other mystery foods were available. This is what they served EVERY night. We were sick of it after the second day. The snack bar was the same every day too, but it was a little more enjoyable. The bartenders were less than friendly even when tipped. There were many things wrong with our room. The water from the shower leaked everywhere, some of the electrical plugs didn't work, our screen door was broken and the light in our bathroom was out. We called the first night to get more towels cause there were four of us and they only gave us three and to have someone come up to fix our light. There was no response to either of these requests. We were patient girls so we jsut showered in the dark. By the forth day our light still wasn't fixed so we called again, lets just say it wasn't fixed when we left. Our towels came but like three days later. I've been to PV before and stayed at playa los arcos and LOVED it. the beds were hard there, but at this resort they were unbearable. They need to add free chiropractic care with the all inclusive. the most horrific experience we had here was getting out money stolen by eiether the secruity crew or house keeping. WE thought our safe was broken because there was no lock, but no they forget to tell peoiple when they check in that you need to purchase the lock for 2 bucks a day. So although they didn't fix our light they went to the troublt of having security come up and put a lock on our safe when they maids said they saw money and cell phones scattered all over the room....not true....we all have travelled enough to be very careful with our belongings and to keep them out of sight. They had no sympathy for our money getting stolen and blamed it on us "well maybe your friends stole or miscounted their money"....OK now for a couple pluses...the pools are great...loved the location on the marina, but a little far from downtown 7 dollar cab ride or 55 peso bus ride. the breakfast was very good along with the drinks. The free dinner you get at their restaurant is also very nice and the staff there are great. Overrall our trip to PV was amazing, but I wouldn't not stay at CLub Embarcadero again.

“Just OK”

Club Embarcadero Pacifico

2 of 5 stars
saint louis
Apr 2, 2008

This hotel is just OK. Don't expect to find a hairdryer, remote for the TV, working A/C, or a brochure of included activities when you check in. This is the bare minimum in terms of all-inclusives. Yes, you get food and drinks - at certain times and at certain places, neither of which are really that easy to figure out. Everything seems to be a secret here, from what restaurant is serving that day/night, to why the safe is 'broken', (you have to buy a lock) to why the A/C doesn't work. A warning: a couple of people we met there lost 90 dollars due to this "broken" safe. Because the only people who had access to their room were housekeepers, the guests' story was not taken seriously.

All in all it's a good hotel, just very minimal. The drinks are good. However, neither my husband or I felt even a slight buzz after numerous trips to the bar! What's up with that? The food is westernized. We recommend breakfast at Magallene's ( the restaurant on the street). The french toast is good! Remember to negotiate cab fare before getting in - the Mexican drivers like to 'change' the fare from time to time. Sorry, but it's true. Also, the nightly entertainment is just that. Very entertaining in a strange, acid trip sort of way. :) Bottled water and snacks can be found down the street at the 24 hour mart. The best part about this hotel is the marina view while eating and swimming and the beautiful pools. Swim and try to get enough drinks going and you'll love this place. Very laid back! We will come back to PV, but probably not to this hotel.

“Perfect for a quick inexpensive getaway”

Club Embarcadero Pacifico

We took a long weekend to Vallarta and were more than content with our stay. We got a fabulous deal - 125 a night for two people all inclusive. Sure the hotel is an older hotel, and it has it's character (i.e. and occassional broken tile, or a chip out of some masonry), but you get what you pay for. People expecting this place to be a 5 star hotel for 200 or less a night are going to be disappointed (as the 5 stars in prime season are going to cost about 300 a night). This met our needs though - good food, great service, a lovely place to sit out and look at the beach (and walk on when tide was low enough), close by to the marina and some great food and shops, and a quick 5 dollar ride to the airport. Oh and the on site spa is awesome and way inexpensive.

We stayed at a hostel the first night in town, and actually it ended up costing us more that night by the time we had bought drinks and had dinner.

The only bummer is the lobby bar closes at like 8 or so and so you have to go off the property for night time action. Oh and the pool is a bit cool also....

We would stay here again in a heartbeat. As a reference point my BF works in the airline industry and so we travel a lot and he has been all over the world. He has stayed in numerous all inclusives all over Mexico and he felt that it met his expectations just as well as the more expensive places who might have slightly better manicured lawns and more modern and immaculate facilities.

“Beautiful!!!”

Club Embarcadero Pacifico

Mar 29, 2008

We just returned from a week at the Embarcadero. I have to admit, from some of the reviews we read before going, we were a little nervous because we didn't go through a travel agency but booked our trip online, but it was awesome. The hotel is beautiful, both inside and out. Our flight got there earlier than the rooms were ready, but the Bellboys locked up our luggage for us, and we were given wrist bands so that we could start enjoying the restaurants and bars right aways, also there were washrooms to change into swim suits & we were given towels cards right aways too! Our room was ready in about an hour, & we had booked a standard but were given a kitchenette. It was huge & gorgeous! The bellboy even remembered which luggage was ours from everyone else's. Talk about impressive! The staff was great the whole week we were there! They all work very hard & a couple of dollars here & there will get you amazing servce! The hotel is kept very clean & the grounds are gorgeous. The food was good, but alot of it is the same everyday, they do change things up a little here & there, & there are different restaurants that you can eat at to have a little diversity. There are also lots of restaurants close by at the Marina & on the street, that are inexpensive, or expesive if you want to eat out of the resort. As for the review that said to watch out for the Federale, there wasn't any on the resort the whole week we were there, & really there was no need for them to be on the resort unless they were called there because they were needed! We were there over Easter & even though there were alot of people, it never affected the service or the great time that we had. We would highly recommend this place for a wonderful getaway for anyone, whether you were there on a honeymoon, a family vacation, or just a nice relaxing getaway. When we go back to Puerto Vallarta, we will definitely stay here again!
