“Nice Tropical Hotel, great location”

This hotel was a great choice in Acapulco, and really exceeded my expectations. Our room in this 18 story high-rise, faced the ocean, as did most of the rooms in these well-designed twin towers. The rooms were very clean, brightly decorated, and the beds were very, very comfortable. The air conditioning worked well and was a welcome relief from the 90 degree temperatures. Always hot water in the shower. The pool area was very relaxing, with chaise lounges in both the sun or shade, and easy access to the beach.

We didn't opt for the all-inclusive plan, but the breakfast buffet was included every day. It was great to have breakfast under the palm trees, facing the ocean, there were custom made omlettes, and a variety of choices of rolls, fruits, and prepared dishes. It was very hard for us to leave this place when our 4 days were up. At night, the hotel came alive with (every other night) entertainment among the palm trees, right next to the beach.

The international flavor of the bands seemed to please a diverse crowd, from young to old. Our room was on the 17th floor, and while it provided breathtaking views of the bay, I would have prefered a lower floor. Try to get one between 2nd and 6th.

The location of this hotel was perfect! Right in the middle of the bay, there were many stores, shopping, ATM's, banks, and even a Mall with a cinema complex, just within a few blocks. The 7-11 type stores (XOOX) were everywhere and came in handy. There also was easy access by taxi or bus, to the other parts of the city, the Zocalo and downtown one way, and the Wal Mart area on the opposite end of the bay. The buses proved to be very convienient and safe, and they made change. 40 cents for a non- air conditioned, and 60 cents for an air conditioned ride.

The reception desk in the hotel, was located in an out-of-the-way corner of the lobby, and was rather small, but the line always moved quickly and there was never a delay either at check-in or check-out. The clerks did not speak English very well, but there was never a problem. I was able to book a couple of excursions right at the tour company desk in the lobby. Avoid the Paloe (glass-bottom boat) tour, I feel the area they bring you to is old and past its day. One restaurant tip: La-Fogota restaurant, (Taxi drivers will know) open air restaurant in the busy old-downtown. Excellent Bar-B-Q chicken and french fries, less than $4 a person.

All in all, the Playa Suites hotel is an excellent choice in Acapulco, and I would recommend it to anyone. I would book this hotel again in a heartbeat!

This was a great place to stay. The staff was very accomidating and friendly. Every room had a beautiful view of the ocean and a walk out patio. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The rooms were in slight need of repairs, but nothing major. I was really surprised after reading all of the bad reviews about this hotel that everything was so great. I guess it goes to show you there are too many people that complain about every little thing, and not enough people who take the time to write reviews unless they have something to complain about. I wouldn't recommend the all inclusive (we didn't have it) but we did eat breakfast and lunch there every day. For breakfast, they have an omlet bar where you can get made to order eggs, and although there is no bacon on the buffet, if you ask for it they will bring it to your table. For lunch, they will serve you right on the beach! If you're a beach lover, this is the best! The dinner buffet wasn't great, so we went out to eat every night. The hotel is within walking distance of so many restaurants, you wouldn't have to eat anywhere twice, and we were there for 19 days. So don't let the reviews fool you. This was a very nice place for families, but if you're fussy and a snob, stay at the Mayan where it costs 30.00 for a taxi ride to go anywhere else to eat.

A friend and I stayed at the hotel for 8 days. We got a package at the Bus Station(Estrella Oro) which included the morning buffet. The buffet was good. No problems at all except the little admirals running around checking constantly to see if you have your wrist band on. Maybe it is a bleed over from our Home Land Security
neurosis but other than those idiots it is a great place to stay and I would go back. I have stayed at a number of hotels in Acapulco over the last 13 years and this was the best.

Ruddest staff I have ever encounter in my travels. The staff of the hotel in general, but specially "security" (guys dressed in white with billy clubs) treat rude behaviour as if it was a virtue. My buddies and I have spent the last 15 years working non stop. This was supposed to be a special time and vacation. This guys managed to ruined it for us. We have a friend that came later on to join us for the day since he had to go back to work. He lives in acapulco and is well known and respected. Well, this so called security guys managed to insult and treat us like criminals though we had proof of room being paid and everything in order.
They are exellent at harrassing but try and getting cigarrets or a drink and get ready to grow old. Food gave us diarrea. Service non existent. Room had a burned kitchen. Cleaning. Ha betterl luck bringing in your own broom. Pool pack with kids withour supervision. Oh! A GOOD ONE! @ 6 pm they start cleaning the pool with a massive hose. If you are reading or sleeping tough luck. Get ready to get hosed down books, food and all. I could go on and on but it boils down to this. NO COMMON SENSE.
NO ENTERTAINMENT. HORRIBLE FOOD. LUKE WARM BEER.
UNEDUCATED PEOPLE. RUDE, RUDE RUDE. Monkeys have better manners and more gray matter.

“Definitely not up to the american standards”

This was a vacation for myself, my 2 small kids aged 10 and 7and for my mom and dad. To start off, Be very cautious at the airport, for there are numerous stalkers for this new time share at the mayan palace. Seriously, it got so bad for us that they were calling our hotel room. But enuff about that, lets get to the Best Western. I do alot of travling and apparently i should have looked into this more carefully. It has always been a tip from my travel agent, that you never want to stay where the locals stay. For Reason being that they are not Americans and, so do not have American Standards. When we arrived to check into our hotel, the lobby was swamped with locals. Apparently, families from Mexico City travel to Acapulco for vacation. We were the only American family staying there. As if that wasnt awkward enuff.. The electricity to the hotel room is ran through your hotel key....so if you are traveling with other adults, tuff luck..that one key runs your entire electricity...how odd..The hotel view was gorgeous, we actually had a panaramic view...but the bathroom was disgusting...there was mold everywhere..we took showers with our flipflops..the bed sheets were even dirty..good thing i usually bring my own...the food from the buffet is recycled from breakfast to lunch and to dinner...good thing we found a mcdonalds and an applebees nearby....i did get my moneys worth with the drinks...the pool is very small, but the beach was huge with many vendors, harrassing vendors...i never did see them bother the locals...i guess they smelled dollars...lol..while we were there, i wanted to let everyone back at home know that all was well....thats when i really got to see how the other hotels were...our hotel had no internet, so we went next door to the crown plaza....it was a gorgeous hotel...i was so jealous....the kids didnt want to go back to our own hotel..All in all...i would not stay there again.....if you have any doubts, feel free to email me..
