We stayed at the Grand Mayan Acapulco through an RCI exchange last week and it was just a terrific vacation from beginning to end.
The resort itself was beautiful and very well-maintained. The service at the resort was impeccable from check-in to check-out, the concierges, and at the bars and restaurants. October is part of the area's off-season, and that meant very uncrowded conditions at the Grand Mayan and nearly everywhere we went. The weather was warm and sunny during the day and it usually rained only at night.
The food at Cafe Del Lago (on premises) was reasonably priced and we at there a couple of times. Otherwise we ventured off the resort. Food and beverages for the room were purchased at the Sun Market, which is within the Mayan Palace compound and accessible to Grand Mayan guests via a half-hourly shuttle. The room, a suite actually, was phenomenal! It was a one bedroom suite with a king size bed, big bedroom and living room. Great kitchen and a small infinitely pool on the balcony.
The beach was great (although the smell from the horses based on the beach could be a little much sometimes) and the pool was awesome and BIG! Service at the pools was always with a friendly smile. The Brio Spa is a must for a massage and was a pleasant and relaxing experience. We booked a city tour of Acapulco through the concierge at the resort. It was about a 4 hour tour, only two of us were on the tour and it was very reasonably priced at $30 U.S. Our tour guide through Constellation Services was spectacular.
The Grand Mayan was a terrific and relaxing place to spend a week and wouldn't ever hesitate to return. It's a very impressive property.
