“Best way to get to Stingray City”

Fat Fish Adventures

Aug 13, 2008

We have been to Stingray City twice, and jet skiing is definitely the best way to go. Peter is the owner of Fat Fish Adventures, and he is delightful. He goes out of his way to make sure your trip is the best it can be, and his jet skis are the in excellent condition. We had a party of 10, and we rented 3 of his jet skis and his jet boat (holds 4 passengers). Peter drove his boat that had all the scuba equipment and other supplies. He is very familiar with the island and the stingrays, and educated us on both. He is very laid back and we never felt rushed. We had lunch at Kaibo, which is around the corner from Rum Point and MUCH more laid back. If you are going during the winter months, Peter will take you out to catch lobsters, and then the restaurant at Kaibo will cook the lobsters for you. We went July 2008 and plan to go back this winter. If you have teenagers, this is the best excursion you could plan for them!

“Best Tour Of All!”

Aug 12, 2008

Prior to my July 20th cruise I decided to find an excursion that was different and less crowded than the crusie line sponsored tours. I read some reviews on TA about Fat Fish Adventures that were very postive, but I remained skeptical. I emailed Peter at Fat Fish Adventures and he responded that same day. Based on my questions Peter customized a trip for me and my two sons (My wife decided to sit this one out-not very big on large sea creatures).
We arrived on Grand Caymen and Peter met us at the pre-arranged location promptly. We drove to where the waverunners were and the conversation flowed as if we had known Peter for years.
Upon arrival at the waverunners Peter gave us a safety briefing, provided us with our gear and off we went. I rode on one waverunner with my 10 year old and my 15 year old drove the other with Peter as the passenger. My son likes to compete with me so Peter got an E-ticket ride to Stingray City. He did not mind and we laughed and joked about it when we arrived.
Peter immediately picked up one of the largest Stingrays and showed us how to properly feed them. It was one of the most beautiful places on earth. From there we traveled to a reef area full of fish, lobster, and corals. Peter was about draw the lobster out of their hidden places with a little bit of squid. An absolutely perfect location for snorkeling. We then traveled to Caymen Kai for beverages, which was a beautiful and and relaxing beach. From there we traveled back to the car and then to the ship. The tour extended past the expected time by almost an hour, but Peter never seemed to expect any compenstation for the extra time spent.
If we had one more day on the island we would have definitely sought out another excursion with Peter and Fat fish Adventures. It was by far the best tour I have taken during my four cruises. Do not miss out on this one it was TERRIFIC.
Thanks Peter (Terry, TJ, and Justin)

“The Perfect Day”

My husband and I have been to some pretty great places in the world....been on some awesome tours, excursions and etc., but our time with Fat Fish Adventures very own Peter Jervis and his son was hands down, the recipe for A PERFECT DAY!

I had found Fat Fish here on Trip Advisor! It was absolutely the very best choice we made. Every review is DEAD ON accurate!
Peter truly becomes a good friend.....you could even call him family by the time you part ways!

From moment one he is warm, welcoming and makes the excursion feel as if its his first trip as well. His (and his son's) enthusiasm and spirit for a great time and the beauty of the island is nothing short of 100%.

We booked a jet ski ride out to sting ray city. We zoomed thru the ocean with not a care in the world. It seemed the ocean was ours and ours alone. We felt safe even though it felt like we were going moch 2 with our hair on fire!!! It was a blast!!!

We got to sting ray city and Peter and his son made the unsettling feeling of being with a mob of sting rays feel 2nd nature. We fed them, pet them, held them, gave kisses, got pictures....it was fantastic!!! An excursion unlike any other. They introduced us by name to tons of rays and educated us about the different characteristics of the males and females.

Red Sail Tours was out at the same time as we were on a large catamaran (about 50 people), but did not offer an in water guide to tell you about the dos and dont's with the rays. Red Sail also didn't offer food for the tourists to feed the rays. You could tell all the Red Sail patrons were feeling jipped after seeing our personal experience with Peter.

Arriving on jet ski and having our private guide made us feel like celebrities.....As we arrived and departed it was almost as if the rest of the crowd was paparazzi...staring and wondering how we got such special treatment. I must say, it felt so nice to have such a unique and private, but laidback and VERY FUN experieince!

After sting ray city we hit a few kick [--] snorkeling spots where we saw huge grouper, lobsters, tons of starfish and live conch and more.....the water was incredible....temperature and clarity were at its best!

We stopped off at Kaibo to rinse off, use restrooms, grab a beverage and share stories. Peter told us of wonderful restaurants, other great adventures, past stories and we had many laughs!!!

After getting back to our hotel, my husband & I couldn't stop talking about Peter and our day! If we had more time on our trip we would have booked more adventures with Fat Fish!!! Our simple one day with Fat Fish has put Grand Cayman on our radar as a place to repeat visit over and over simply to visit him and plan more excursions. Reef fishing being our next choice!!!

To Peter: Sorry we missed you later on in the evening!!
After a long day in the sun and water and a wonderful dinner at Casanova per your recommendation, our comfy bed at the hotel called to us, we slept like babies! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING AND WE WILL BE IN TOUCH FOR SURE.

Keep those Bananas Handy for when we come fishin'!!!

From your Favorite Tampa Couple....we love ya!!!

“Dont miss this opportunity”

July 10 - 17, 2008, my family visited Grand Cayman and booked several adventures with Peter of Fat Fish Adventures: a night fish and a full day of snorkeling/jet skiing.

My husband and I went to Grand Cayman 10 years ago and enjoyed a tour of Stingray City. We had so much fun we decided to bring our teenagers this time. Peter gave a much better tour! He is full of information about the island, the waters, and the wildlife and shares it readily. We were the first people at Stingray City that morning. What a difference it made being the only boat there! He shared with us the names of different rays that hang there and we got to hold and feed several sting rays before the other tour boats arrived. When the other boats arrived, we left and Peter took us to several other good snorkeling spots. We had one tour boat "following" us, but other than the one boat, we were alone with Peter and the reef. It is amazing and beautiful and it is made even better by not having people all around you!
(The fewer the people swimming around, the less spooked the fish - therefore the more to see). Peter asked us if we were adventurous - you bet! - And took us to the other side of the reef where, diving down, we got to see a small reef shark and a moray eel. A private snorkeling tour is the only way for us from now on and Peter was great!

Our experience with Peter is what made the trip for me; it was like seeing your best friend you hadn’t seen in years, from the moment we talked on the phone to book the trips, down to first meeting each other. The night fishing trip went well enough that Peter and myself went out again a few nights later where I got to catch 3 and 4 pound Laguna snapper with a hand line.
I’m not much on bragging on people but if you don’t use Fat Fish Adventures you’re missing out on having a great experience and making a new friend.

“This is "Must Do" for your vacation”

Fat Fish Adventures

Aug 10, 2008

My family spent 7 days in the Grand Cayman. We did a lot of exploring - - and Fat Fish Adventures won the prize for excitement. My husband, 8 year old, 10 year old, and my dad (and me) spent almost a full day with Peter. He took us to Sting Ray City. My kids were a little timid. He was so good with them. He told them exactly what to expect and explained why they are so friendly.

After that, we took off to Starfish City. Peter caught and let my kids hold these huge starfish.

We then snorkeled on a reef and then took off to Kaibo to eat lunch. The snorkeling was awesome and I loved the relaxed atmosphere at Kaibo.

Peter suggested that we take his jet ski along - in addition to his boat. I was a little worried about the kids. However, I drove them (3 fit easily) and they had a blast.

Peter is an awesome guide. He is friendly, knows his way around and gets along very well with the locals. He even told us where to find the real local food (and don't miss that either!).

We also booked a fishing trip. However, Peter called well in advance to let us know it would be rough and we may get sick. He checked in with us several times and let us make the call. I was very impressed with the fact that he gave us the warning.

I did not get to go fishing for Lobsters -- and hope to do that on the next trip.

We plan to go back to Grand Cayman and will spend at least a day (hopefully more) with Peter. He is top notch!!
