July 10 - 17, 2008, my family visited Grand Cayman and booked several adventures with Peter of Fat Fish Adventures: a night fish and a full day of snorkeling/jet skiing.
My husband and I went to Grand Cayman 10 years ago and enjoyed a tour of Stingray City. We had so much fun we decided to bring our teenagers this time. Peter gave a much better tour! He is full of information about the island, the waters, and the wildlife and shares it readily. We were the first people at Stingray City that morning. What a difference it made being the only boat there! He shared with us the names of different rays that hang there and we got to hold and feed several sting rays before the other tour boats arrived. When the other boats arrived, we left and Peter took us to several other good snorkeling spots. We had one tour boat "following" us, but other than the one boat, we were alone with Peter and the reef. It is amazing and beautiful and it is made even better by not having people all around you!
(The fewer the people swimming around, the less spooked the fish - therefore the more to see). Peter asked us if we were adventurous - you bet! - And took us to the other side of the reef where, diving down, we got to see a small reef shark and a moray eel. A private snorkeling tour is the only way for us from now on and Peter was great!

Our experience with Peter is what made the trip for me; it was like seeing your best friend you hadn’t seen in years, from the moment we talked on the phone to book the trips, down to first meeting each other. The night fishing trip went well enough that Peter and myself went out again a few nights later where I got to catch 3 and 4 pound Laguna snapper with a hand line.
I’m not much on bragging on people but if you don’t use Fat Fish Adventures you’re missing out on having a great experience and making a new friend.
