Had dinner at Pat O'Briens. I also ordered the crawfish cakes with creole sauce. They were great. Others at our table ordered the Creole Trio. They had crawfish etoufee, red beans and rice and gumbo. The patio area was a welcome oasis from the noise on Bourbon Street. The service was excellent and the Hurricanes were the best. The Hurricanes are huge (about double the size of similarly priced drinks elsewhere on Bourbon) and made with real Bacardi 151. They cost $10, but if you return the glasses, you get $3 back. more

Our dinner was so-so (although my husband really loved his shrimp creole) but the Hurricanes were awesome! Regardless of how cliche it is to order a Hurricane in New Orleans, we did it frequently and were not dissapointed. The food was just okay, hurricanes were STRONG and SWEET so be prepared. The atmosphere is what makes Pat O'Brien's stand out. It's a ton of fun! I would recommend eating elsewhere and just going to enjoy the bar and drinks. more
