We walked into this place starving, because we skipped lunch, when they were just opening for dinner. We had no idea what their reputation was or what to expect. It's been awhile since this night so my memory on what we had exactly is fuzzy, but what I remember very clearly is how stellar their service was. My husband and... more

Following the advice of trip advisor, we took a cab to Lupa Trattoria. It is in the cute Noe Valley neighborhood. The wait staff is definitely as authentic as the food is awesome. The ambiance is simple, family friendly, and quaint. My wife ordered the orecchiette alla norma, which would have been awesome if it hadn't been completely upstaged by... more

Had dinner at Lupa's this past Saturday evening and it was a meal to remember. My in-laws were in town so we thought we would try a new restaurant based on tripadvisor reviews. As other reviewers have alluded, this restaurant is the real deal when it comes to its food. We had a starter dish of mussels, caprese and cesar... more

Lupa is definitely a hidden gem. My wife thought I was crazy when we pulled up to this unassuming storefront trattoria. Visually it doesn't impress with plain wooden tables and chairs, and bland colors and dark wood panneling. But the food is the real deal here. Our waiter, Simone, recommended wine that he offered to drink himself if we didn't... more

We were searching for 'real' italian food and not the 'tourist trap' italian food that SF is filled with. We finally decided to go to Lupa after reading the reviews on Tripadvisor. We couldn't be more satisfied. This is the real italian stuff and not the food that is adjusted to america's kitchen with portians you can't eat. Very nice... more

We've been a fan since this chef was located on Nob Hill and the room was called La Luna Rosa. Yes, the food is fantastico! The appetizer selections are all wonderful. The pork and pollenta dish is extraordinary, as are the wide array of homemade pastas. The scalloppini melts in your mouth. And, of course, the deserts are real guilty... more

This restaurant totally exceeded my expectations of Italian food, rewrote its boundaries and showed me how magical good cooking can be. A fantastic educational experience at a very reasonable price. I can't recommend this enough and am looking forward to my next visit. Btw, I had the butternut ravioli. more

Had dinner here on a Wednesday night with a friend. it's a small, casual restaurant where you can be as dressed up or dressed down as you wish. The food was absolutely wonderful. I tend to judge Italian restaurants by their pasta dishes, and in particular, their gnocchi. Lupa's menu offers a standing dish of gnocchi with braised wild boar... more

After reading the reviews and our love of great Italian finds in each and every city we visit, we had to give it a try! WOW! You simply cannot go wrong with this Italian discovery! My husband had a dish with fettucine and clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari and red sauce..... (from their specials menu)... he said it's the best Italian... more
