too many choices of excellent breakfast places than this place that went over its head on overpricing an americana comfort meal...tsk! more
We took the cable car from our hotel (Fairmont) to Lombard Street and walked down the crooked street. Pretty neat! And then walked to Mama's for breakfast. It was really good food and worth the wait in the line up. The orange and apple juice were super yummy! We got there at about 8:30am and waited for about 35 minutes... more
We were recommended Mama's as "the" place for breakfast/brunch in San Fran ... and it certainly is!! But be prepared to wait in line outside, luckily a newstand is right outside so you can at least read the paper while you wait. We waited 30 minutes, but it was well worth the wait. Stopped here on the last day of my honeymoon in the city. The absolute best and most delicious breakfast i have ever had. Everyone should absolutely stop by here. Don't ask questions, just go! more

Anyway, good food (we both had French toast), fun with the locals while standing in line and an overall good experience. I... more
Ah, what's the most precious thing we have on this earth? Time, of course! And that's why it's so surprising that people are willing to squander up to 3 hours waiting on lines (notice I said 'lines') to eat at this good but not fantastic restaurant. Yes, the food is very tasty, the portions are large, and the prices are... more
Be sure to go here at least once for breakfast. Go during the week and before 10:00 or you will be waiting in line out the door. A bit pricey for breakfast, 2 meals cost us about $25 both times. The link sausage is very good and my wife loved their french toast with the fresh berries on top. more
