We stayed here after doing milford sound and driving south via the scenic route. Dramatic scenery to be seen on the way down here. The hotel hosts were excellent giving us directions to restaurants, etc. Great help with our large luggage. Wish we had stayed more than one night! Room was clean, and large for NZ. We have just returned from a visit to beautiful Stewart Island in the deep south of New Zealand - in fact even further south than Invercargill, one of the southernmost cities in the world. The Victoria Railway Hotel is in a heritage building (built 1896) but recently upgraded. Our room was comfortable and the facilities in general were fantastic.
