I advise anyone to avoid staying at this hotel. When we arrived the receptionist, who was also the manager was very rude, he had no manners, he was miserable and he did not make you feel at all welcome. The hotel is very old fashioned which is often acceptable but not when it looks as though it has not had... more

The hotel Was the venue for The Carlisle Blues Festival so we booked the room as part of the weekend package. Firstly it was a good venue for the music and we had a great time. The plus points, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms and public areas were clean and tidy. The negatives, well as stated in... more

My friend and I met as it was half way for both of us. B&B £55 - twin room and we enjoyed it. Good value for money, room was a little small but what do you expect for what we paid!? Warm, clean and staff very helpful. We went into town for dinner but there's not too many good places... more

Just returned from 2 business days at The Swallow Hilltop Hotel. The hotel is firmly stuck in 1970's . My bedroom was very tired, the furniture was dark and old, the bathroom was small, and I was surprised the TV was not black and white! There was no upgrade available when I asked. The pool area was just about OK,... more

Friends and I stayed at this Hotel as part of a New Year Gala Package. 3 days 30/12 - 02/01. From the minute we walked into the Hotel until we left on 02/01 I could not fault the service. Staff and management seemed to go out of their way to make sure you enjoyed your stay. The Management had put... more

Me and my partner found this hotel on late rooms, i had just had a baby and he got called away to work up in Carlisle, having a new baby I wanted to go with him so we found the Hilltop at last minute to stay there for 3 nights. We found the hotel to be excellent, granted the decor... more

Saw Bargain Breaks advertised in 'Guardian' 3 Nov. and subsequently booked an overnight stay for Fri.9 Nov. Upon arrival it was apparent that the hotel decor was 'tired' but our room and en suite appeared to be clean. The bar area was in the process of being upgraded, was a pleasant atmosphere and the customer service friendly and efficient. Our... more

I understand this hotel may have been one of the Swallow hotels bought under a management buyout, and wish the buyers well, but unless a lot of money is spent on the fabric of the hotel, people will simply choose to stay elsewhere. The carpets are shabby and taped in places for safety to guests, the wallpaper has been stripped... more
