I recently stayed at this hotel for 2 seperate nights while on holiday - October 2008... For location - it's fabulous! - Right in the middle of Gran Via, walking distance to Sol.. the Metro.....and everything that you can possibly want to do.....Perfect place if you want to be in the middle of the action... However! - my first HUGE... more

Was there one night last August with a group of friends. Booked 3 rooms (1 double, 1 triple, 1 familiar) on internet but when we arrived the recepcionist tolds us they had 3 doubles confirmed. After a while the (hotel) mistake was cleared up and explained that was due to an error on Tryp's central reservations. 1) Positive: Excellent location... more

I was worried about this hotel since I was in Madrid for an important fair and I found an incredible rate trough rates to go.. Well, it was really a good surprise! My room was pretty small but clean, with new forniture a nice bathroom, tv, frigobar etc.. The location is perfect to go anywhere in Madrid: 50 metres from... more

Let's get one thing straight, first of all this hotel is in a great postion. But that is where the positives end. You walk in through a door directly on the street and down into a basement reception where you meet the slowest staff. When you have finally managed to check in, you then make your way past the 70's... more

My husband and I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Tryp Rex Hotel because we missed our connection. Iberia Airlines booked the room for us. The accommodations were as poor as any hotel either of us had ever seen. The room smelled like mildew. There were cracks in the walls, stains on the sheets and carpet, water... more

I went to Madrid with 20 more friends and we have stayed at Tryp Rex. The hotel has a superb location and, as such, they have lots of clients. This means they do not have to care with the clients they have. Facilities need some rehabilitation (mainly the common areas and some windows), and the hotel is pretty noisy (you... more

I am a budget traveller, nothing really fazes me. This trip I wanted 2 additional amenities so I opted to pay more than for a cheap bed. I even called the receptionist to ensure I would have the amenities I needed. 1. I was told there were no more single rooms, so I had to pay for a double room... more

Excellent hotel located on the main street. Everything was near and easy to find. Room was beautifully decorated in green colours with spacious and clean bathroom. Only negative thing that I could think of would be a very small elevators. Breakfast was rich and various. This hotel was a very nice suprise that made our stay in Madrid more enjoyable. more

I have just come back from Madrid (yesterday). I have just read the reviews on this hotel and cannot believe what I have been reading. I have been to many, many hotels worldwide. This one really takes the biscuit! Firstly we were told that this was a four star hotel. Absolutley no way!!! I would rate this no more than... more

The hotel room was reasonably clean and tidy, although small. The receptionist was also helpful. The location is very central, right on Gran Via, and only a short walk to Calle de Precaidos (a pedestrianised shopping street) towards Puerta del Sol. I was given a room without any view (only a wall behind the curtains), but the good thing is... more
