The reputation of the Ritz is great and the web site photos are nice, so I looked forward to my three-day stay there last month. I was in for a shock. The interior of the hotel is in a very poor state. The hall is very faded, which creates a depressing atmosphere. In the corridors, the carpets are so thin... more

Stayed for 4 nights in a classic room with courtyard view, the decor of the room was old-fashioned glamour as you would expect from the Ritz, the room was very spacious with 2 walk in closets, in the bathroom were Bulgari toiletries (the TV had a number of British stations BBC 1 & 2, ITV). I would also recomend eating... more

We stayed at the Ritz for our first night in Spain prior to touring the La Rioja region and returning out of Barcelona. The Ritz was exactly as we had hoped it would be! A nicely rennovated grand old hotel in a european metropolitan city. We were not looking for modern furnishings as a lot of the top hotels are... more

It is always helpful to understand that staying at 5-star hotel in Europe is quite a different experience than staying at a 5-star hotel in Asia, or even the US for that matter. You’ll never get the service of the Oriental in Bangkok or the amenities of the St. Regis in NY. But what you do get is a heavy... more

Last week we spent three nights in Madrid. Learned a lot from the experienvce but most likely will not be returning anytime soon. We stayed at The Hotel Ritz . This hotel is located in a nice area next to several popular museums. King Alfonso built this hotel in the early 1900's for royal weddings, parties, etc. While the hotel... more

Spent a few days here with the Mrs and had a great time, Barca is lovely and the hotel is even better. Although a trek from the Designer shops, Gucci, Vuitton etc the hotel is second to none, We stayed in a suite which cost a pretty penny but wa swell worth it. The lovely bar downstairs is a nice... more

Speedy check-in service with helpful bell staff who tried to speak our language - successfully. Welcome cake and water with glasses brought to our room by welcoming staff just as our luggage arrived as we were shown around the room by the front desk staff. Gorgeous all-marble bathroom with 2 sinks and separate marble shower w/ rain head and tub.;... more
