Casa Don Pascual

Jan 2, 2009

For my first experience at a bed and breakfast, Casa Don Pascaul set the bar of excellence very high. From the moment, I arrived every detail was attended to. My room was well appointed with a beautiful tiled and heated bath. The gas log fireplace and the view gave the room very romantic ambiance. Both in the beautiful home and... more

Casa Quetzal Hotel

Jan 2, 2009

My husband and I spent Christmas in San Miguel and stayed at Casa Quetzal in the patio room. The small boutique hotel is perfect. Beautiful courtyard and surroundings. The photos on the hotel's web site are accurate -- no enhancements! Very clean and colorful room. TV with lots of english stations (even watched the Cowboys game one night). You can... more

This was our second trip to San Miguel and Casa Calderoni. Our family, papa, mama, son and 10-yr old granddaughter stayed in the Frieda Kaloe suite and the Picasso suite. The property is beautiful, old-world charm, with an outstanding staff who go beyond helpful in arranging dinner reservations, sightseeing trips, etc. in and around the magical town of San Miguel.... more

Casa Luna B&B

Casa Luna Quebrada is pure heaven. Lalo, the day manager is so accommodating, whether it be calling a cab or informing you on any local information. The dogs Lola and Bon Bon are the most wonderfully sweet, loving, dogs who work hard at protecting there home. We always felt safe and well taken care of at the B&B. The family... more

Stay here -- There's no other way to say it. The owners, Heidi and Bill, were fabulous hosts, attending to our every need, from recommending dining to arranging for ground transportation. They are experts on the area, its history, food, and ethnography. The accommodations were spacious, comfortable, and safe. The view from our room, Pajaros, was spectacular. Breakfast was delicious,... more

This is my absolute favorite restauraunt when I am in San Miguel. The breakfasts are outstanding. Order espresso with warm leche on the side and you will have a perfect cappuccino. Their bread is outstanding, hot and fresh baked with beautiful preserves and butter. Egg dishes are delicious and original. No boring fried omlettes here. The ambience is tile floor,... more

Today is my final day staying in Antigua Villa Santa Monica and I wanted to suggest that future San Miguel de Allende visitors look elsewhere – this hotel is not worth your time. I booked at AVSM for a last-minute trip to San Miguel. It was one of the only hotels that had rooms and it seemed, based on the... more

Four of us had dinner there to celebrate an anniversary and a birthday on December 2nd. This restaurant has never disappointed me and this night was no exception. Had the sea bass and it was excellent. more

We visited this hotel because its restaurant was highly recommended by some friends, but we were not staying overnight. Once there, the place is almost unreal. The food is excellent, everything was perfect. Then we visited the hotel, just to look around and see the facilities. We wanted so much to stay so we did, altough it was not on... more

We were excited to go to Tio Lucas as we had heard many good things about the restaurant. But, boy, were we disappointed! We were there on Dec. 26, 2008 and both of our dinners were horrible. Neither my husband, who ordered the tuna, or myself, who had steak tapequena, could eat but two bites of our dinner. We also... more

I was hoping for a quiet retreat from a busy year, and I got more than I could ever have imagined. Both Greg and Murray were incredible hosts. They anticipated what I would need, and made sure it was automatically provided. In addition, they gave great advice about the city, and would check in to be sure all was well.... more

I have just returned from spending my Christmas Holiday at this lovely little hotel in the middle of San Miguel de Allende. The hotel is very close to the heart of San Miguel..... short walk to Jardin and the Parroqula. The service was outstanding and all the employees were very helpful. more

After missing our connection in Houston because of weather, spending an unplanned night at the subpar Marriott at the Houston airport, finagling a flight the next morning on standby to Guanajuato, and catching a taxi for the 90 minute drive to San Miguel, I was a bit nervous when our driver got lost in San Miguel and had to follow... more

Unfortunately, the homes tour has morphed into a visit to "trophy homes", frequently outside the city limits, and many times taking you to commercial establishments: B&B's, homes for sale or rent, cooking school venues, etc. What was once a charming glimpse of the abodes of real people who did their own decorating--with all the foibles that entails--has now become a... more

Casa Maricela

We needed to go to San Miguel on business/pleasure to take care a remodel we are doing on our newly purchased home there in December. We chose to stay at Casa Maricela based on Tripadvisor reviews. Celebrated my birthday in early December at El Campanario and thought the food (for all four) way less than their typical offerings. My Chilean Sea Bass (Robalo) was OK, but the portion much smaller and less fresh than any I have had there. Friend's Gulf Red Snapper (Huachinango) was a bit better, but still off the prior mark. Another friend's... more

Good food and a pleasant atmosphere. A bit heavy on steak, but there are traditional mexican dishes as well. The wine list focuses on south america, but is reasonable. The owner usually seems to be working the door. I'd have no trouble recommending it. more
