Traveler Reviews on Copper Canyon

Uno Lodge

Dec 16, 2008

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Uno Lodge for two nights in December. It has to be one of the most unique and special places on the planet! The location is spectacular, with some parts of the lodge literally hanging over the canyon edge, The rooms are simple but with nice touches like hand woven Tarahumara... more

Copper Canyon Sierra Lodge

Dec 14, 2008

This charming lodge is located within easy walking distance of a waterfall and a short hike away from the village of Cusararé. Both the museum and the mission make it worth the effort to stroll into town. There is no electricity but when we returned to our room after dinner we found the kerosene lamps lit and wood for the... more

Parador de la Montana

Dec 14, 2008

Creel will likely be a stopping place along your Copper Canyon tour but there is little reason to stay longer than necessary. It is a city utterly without charm and the Parador fits in perfectly. But if you are on a budget, it may be a better option than the next best hotel that is twice the price. The beds... more

Dec 2, 2008

We spent 5 nights at the Best Western when we were exploring Copper Canyon. We enjoyed our stay. The people at the hotel were friendly and helpful. We had breakfast at the hotel every morning and found it to be tasty. The rooms were finished in a cabin type style. They were nicely furnished and clean. The gas stove for... more

We stayed at this hotel along with another couple in Oct. 2008 on our way and our way back from the CHEPE train trip up to Creel and the Copper Canyon. We left our vehicle parked in the courtyard while we were gone 4 days. Felt very good about leaving it there. The hotel has so much character, room well... more

We were with a tour group which had booked a night at Hotel Torres del Fuerte. The Hotel was a wonderful and exciting place to stay and enjoy both the wonderful rooms and the excellent service and hospitality. I returned to stay another evening on my return from Copper Canyon and enjoyed the evening having dinner with the owner Francisco.... more

If you are touring the Copper Canyon on your own, staying at the El Fuerte hotel will be one of the highlights of your trip. This is a wonderful place for those who like some character in their surroundings and excellent value. This 300 year old hacienda has all the mod cons you require ... large clean rooms and bathrooms,... more

My husband and I booked the Western Explorer trip with Canyon Travel for October 11th-18th, 2008. Unfortunately, my husband developed a medical condition and is unable to travel. I contacted Canyon Travel on Sept. 27th to inform them of the cancellation. I knew I would not get a full refund at such a late date but by the contract should... more

Hotel was beautiful--we had a room in newer part that overlooked the street--no noise problem. July is extremely hot but rooms had AC and ceiling fan. Pool was absolutely nasty--green, couldn't see the bottom, and they kept promising to "clean it tomorrow" which didn't happen. After seeing pool, didn't even want to think what might be in spa! We also... more

I LOVED this hotel. My room looked over the rim of the canyon, and the view was SPECTACULAR at sunrise, and the rest of the day. Maria, the owner/manager was a delight and very helpful with information. I plan on going back next year for a longer stay. more

While visiting friends in nearby Cuauhtémoc, this hotel was highly recommended for our trip to explore the Copper Canyon. After a beautiful two hour drive, we arrived to the quaint town of Creel where we immediately spotted the hotel upon arriving to the Centro. Before booking our room, we made an inspection for ourselves and found the rooms to be... more

Hotel Posada del Hidalgo What a great hotel in the colonial El Fuerte… from the moment we walked in we fell in love with the place. We just could not get enough of the Hotel and I must have take dozens of photographs of the Hotel and courtyards. What came to mind when we walked in was charming, appealing, and... more

This place can't be beaten. The location is spectacular. The drive there from the station ......... you need to experience it to believe it. We went there as part of a Canyon Travel tour. Spent 2 nights there but could have done with more time to do more walking. Views from the lodge are probably the best in the region.... more

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Western Lodge in Creel. The town itself is a backwoods place with some of that sleepy indolence of old-style Mexico, but the hotel is well-run and looks after its guests well. I have just read some of the negative reviews that others have posted on this site and I can... more

My wife and I were fortunate to book two nights at the Uno Lodge through Canyon Travel although we did not book a tour with them. This Tarahumara -owned lodge is very eco-friendly and an integral part of the community (The Tarahumara are the indigenous tribe found throughout the Canyon territories). We were extremely fortunate to have the place to... more

I have stayed in some bad hotels before in small towns but this is by far the worst - it feels so unsafe and is dirty and gross. If the Best Western 3 doors down had any rooms available we would have moved for any price. We arrived off the train in the late afternoon and were picked up by... more

We just returned last week from our independent trip to the Copper Canyon. I had placed my room reservations with them directly through their website (I worked w/ Yanira Espinoza who was very helpful and nice). In order to make independent room reservations with them, you will need to do a wire transfer. Luckily they have bank accounts set up... more

We were not able to book this property until we arrived in Creel. Many of the properties in Creel are very worn or are generic motel style. Margaritas has some charm in comparison. It has a nice lobby, dining room with mural and pleasant courtyard. The rooms are a little tight with low ceilings but are fine. They offer heat... more

Last month, we took a tour with Canyon Travel to the western section Copper Canyon .The transportation, accommodations, food and personnel were all we expected and more, a toughly enjoyable trip. Our only criticism is prior to departure; we made numerous calls to Canyon Travel’s office for information. All we got was an answer machine and none of our calls... more
