We recently returned from a trip to Mexico over Christmas and decided to try Hidden Worlds. We were with our 2 sons who are 7 and 10 and who were desperate to try a zip line. The day we spent at Hidden Worlds ended up being a highlight for us! My husband is a real safety fanatic and he was... more

Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park

We really enjoyed our day at Hidden Worlds. It's kind of a combo adventure and eco-park with none of the Disney-like aspect of other places. One word of caution -- the adventure part is quite mild for those expecting exciting zip lines, etc. If you're really interested just in the cenotes, there are probably cheaper options. Thought I'd run you... more

Zulum Beach Club + Cabanas

We booked our room at Zulum sight unseen and after several of our top choices were sold out. We were skeptical seeing as not too many places still had rooms left on the Tulum strip and we wanted the eco-cool rustic but boutique small hotel experience that we'd been hearing about. But we browsed the website and started to get... more

My wife and I, and two friends, visited Dreams Tulum 12/29/08-1/3/09. We have made a tradition of traveling to different all-inclusive resorts to celebrate New Years...some very good resorts, and some very bad...but this is the first time I've felt it necessary to write a review of our travels. The main reason I'm writing this report is in the hopes... more

Luna Maya

Jan 4, 2009

We booked the "Cabana" which was supposed to be a romantic place on the seashore. It turned out to be a shack located between a very busy road, the noisy hotel restaurant/bar and the bar toilet. When we objected about the location of our shack, the hotel clerk just ignored us. We ended up upgrading our room for a very... more

The view from our second floor ocean front room was spectacular and the beach here lovely. The room was clean and nice (except that the shower isn't made well and makes a lake on the floor with each use and one of the lights didn't work even after they fixed it). Bed comfortable. But the owners are very unprofessional. They... more

Hidden Worlds Cenotes Park

Hidden Worlds was a wonderful experience. I made reservations online for the ultimate adventure package for 4 and arranged for the van to pick us up at our hotel. Everything about the day was perfect for us. We have 2 daughters -- the younger one has juvenile diabetes and requires special treatment due to insulin dependency. I worried about managing... more

Great fun for teenage boys and adults! We had a great time. The staff there is very helpful and did everything they could to give us a fun day. We had so much fun, 6 hours had passed before we knew it! Snorkeling in cenotes is fantastic! more

We went on a day of tours with Ed adventures during our time in Mexico last November, after reading many positive reviews posted on Trip Advisor! We booked the day from our hotel in Mexico (the Valentin Imperial) via the internet. Ed adventures were very good, responding to us by email promptly and arranging for us to plan and book... more

We went to Hidden Worlds yesterday with our 4 and 7 year old boy and had a blast. Staff were friendly and helpful with our many questions, and equipment for hire (like wetsuits - $3 USD) were in good condition. Snorkelling gear use was included in the ticket. We did the sky cycle/snorkelling option - and purchased tickets on the... more

We have 2 boys 10 and 14 and we all had a great time! We booked online. The online ticket allows you to go anytime, no reservation needed (unless you are scuba diving). We purchased the Ultimate package for $59 for the 2 adults and 14 year old and 1/2 price for the 10 year old. Much more $$ if... more

Actually, we didn't stay at the hotel, only did the restaurant, way overpriced though. Ask for a menu with prices before ordering...my wife and I ended up spending US $100 on 2 entrées and 3 glasses of wine. Very expensive, even for Tulum. more

Its a cabana- dont expect air con, hot water, proper locking rooms etc. The setting is amazing though- the most picturesque beach cove I´ve ever seen, with classy scultures, nice hammocks and seats- a rustic but very stylish place to stay. We stayed only two nights but wished we could have stayed longer. The restaurant served good food, and whilst... more

Cabanas Retiro Maya

Jan 3, 2009

The beach at Tulum is special, with idyllic fine white sand, and Retiro Maya stands on a great section with very swimmable sea. If you are prepared to forego creature comforts, as is necessary in this area, then Retiro Maya is a good place to stay, although things could be better. The bathrooms are reasonable, with showers mostly warm. Cleanish... more

We are empty nesters that have traveled extensively in the USA, Europe and many times in Mexico. I did 7000 miles on my motorcycle last year there and we have reasonable expectations for our lodging. This was with out any doubt the worst we have ever had! To pay $230 a night for zero privacy and a bed that is... more

Tulum Dreams in Playa del Carmen was an above average all inclusive resort. It was very clean, with one exception noted at the end of this review. There were 2 pools and a beautiful white sand beach area (great for finding shells). The food selection was excellent (1 buffet area, 3 sit-in restaurants(Italian, French, Asian), 2 patio dinning areas, and... more

We have been several times in Mexico, from the Pacific to the Caribbean so we know what to expect from the country. This time we have spent 3 nights at Parayso, when you pay 225USD+taxes by night you expect muche better service. When we arrived there were NO ONE AT THE RECEPTION DESK, finally the owner's brother appeared and he... more

La Selva Mariposa

Jan 3, 2009

My husband and I just returned from a one-week stay at La Selva Mariposa, with our 21 and 25-year-old children, and we had a truly wonderful and magical time. It was our first time to Mexico, having always favored Hawaii, but it turned out far better than we would have imagined. We chose to stay away from the mega all-inclusive... more

My fiance and I stayed at Dreams from Dec24-30/08. It was a thoroughly relaxing experience. Before booking the trip, we had read some great reviews about the resort that ended up swaying our decision. However, our opinions differ from other reviewers' regarding the quality of food (which was very disappointing for us since we are food enthusiasts!) I will be... more
